This morning, the Department of Surgery hosted the Richard Jennings Field, Jr. Lectureship. This year’s Field Lecture speaker was Dr. Paul E. Wise, who spoke on “Trainees and Advanced Practice Providers: Creating Collaboration, Circumventing Conflict.”

Dr. Chris Anderson presented the Field Lectureship plaque to Dr. Paul Wise. Afterward, Dr. Chris Anderson and Dr. Richard Field III joined him for a group photo to mark the occasion.

Dr. Jacob Moremen will be representing UMMC when he presents at an educational event in Texas sponsored by the American Foregut Society this week. Dr. Moremen will lead a session on “Making the Most of Myotomy" about surgical strategies for better esophageal outcomes.

Meet Morgan Sudduth, our newest Nurse Practitioner in the Surgical ICU! 🎉 She may be new to the APP role, but not to the department. Morgan worked as a staff nurse in the SICU and later in Interventional Radiology. She’s passionate about critical care and supporting patients and families through recovery. Outside of work, Morgan enjoys life with her new husband ❤️ and their three dogs 🐾.
