September is National Su***de Prevention Month. Firefighters face traumas every day. There are resources available to help through the difficult times, including a new support group in Jackson. The group meets again tomorrow (Wednesday, Sept. 10) at 10 a.m. at Baptist Medical Center.

It is almost time to fill the boots!

The and Gluckstadt Police Department are teaming up to host the Inaugural Badges & Boots for Burns Boot Drive on Friday, Oct. 4. The money raised will go directly to the Foundation of America to provide essential services like lodging, transportation, and other services for burn patients and their families here in Mississippi.

Come out, meet these fabulous firefighters and policemen and support our burn patients!

Come donate! Burn patients can need more than 30 units of blood during their hospital stay. Your donation of one unit of blood can help three patients: platelets for one, plasma for another, and red blood cells for another. If you decide to partake in the art of making smores for National S’mores Day (or on any other day), make sure a visit to the burn center isn’t included in your ingredients. Use longer sticks to stay away from open flames, and let sticks cool off before using them again! Construct your s’mores with care so no extra hot marshmallow oozes onto bare skin. When it comes time to eat the gooey morsels, take an extra few seconds to let them cool down! Now, cook, assemble and enjoy!
