🚨 STOP FALLING FOR “FORENSIC PHLEBOTOMY CE” SCAMS! 🚨
Let’s get this straight....if you’re a certified phlebotomist, real forensic experience does NOT come from some online CE course. It comes on the job, in a hospital setting or you can contact your local Highway Patrol or State police to see if you can contract them.
Here’s how it really works:
👮♂️ Officer brings a detainee:
• They provide the kit with two tubes and a chain of custody.
• Officer signs it, detainee provides ID and signs.
• You draw the blood using standard phlebotomy procedure:
• Clean the site with non-alcoholic antiseptic
• Draw the tubes, invert gently 5x
• Label, complete the form, seal the kit
• Hand it back to the officer, they take it to the state crime lab
⚖️ Legal reality:
• You can be summoned to court, but you don’t have to testify.....the defense is usually just trying to get the case thrown out.
• I personally performed a blood drug test for a court case just 2 months ago.
💡 Career tip:
• As a certified phlebotomist, you can market yourself to coroners’ offices, medical examiners, private autopsy firms, and more. You may get lucky, all you really need is your certification.
• If you’re not certified, a Medical Director can provide on-the-job training, but certification is the gold standard.(Your Phlebotomy Certification)
⚠️ Bottom line:
• Forensic phlebotomists are specialized law enforcement officers, correctional employees, or trained technicians collecting blood and biological samples for legal, not purely medical purposes.
• There is NO CE-only program that replaces real hospital experience. Anyone telling you otherwise? It's a scam.
