WEM Pool Day yesterday! 🏊‍♀️🍕
We enjoyed the weekday afternoon by the pool - perks of being ER docs! Our Women in EM group organizes a few fun events throughout the year. Can’t wait for the next!

🌟 Intern Spotlight 🌟

Meet Kellar! Well, Alex Kellar, but he goes by Kellar.

Dr. Kellar is from Lafayette, Louisiana, and he went to the University of Louisiana at Monroe for undergrad. He attended the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine for med school. When he’s not at the hospital, he likes going to the gym, playing video games, reading fantasy novels, having board game nights with friends & family, and spending lazy nights inside with his wife Kalyn!
He’s excited to see his growth as a physician alongside his co-residents/friends.

Meet Karthik!

Karthik is from Madison, MS. He attended Ole Miss for undergrad and UMMC for medical school. He enjoys all things sports & outdoors, Ole Miss athletics, attending music festivals, and spending time with family/friends.
He’s looking forward to learning from the diverse patient population here and his colleagues, as well as bettering his procedural skills!

Resuming our intern shoutouts - meet Tyler!

Dr. Babek is from Edmond, OK (OKC). He completed his undergraduate studies at Southern Nazarene University and went to medical school at Oklahoma State University College of Health Science in Tulsa.
Outside of medicine, he enjoys “Family, Friends, and Food,” as well as spending as much time outdoors as possible! He’s most looking forward to building the confidence to take on anything that comes through those doors—no matter how critical, chaotic, or unexpected.

Our PGY-3s thoroughly enjoyed their time at ACEP ‘25 in SLC this week! They spent time at the conference, hiking the beautiful mountains, enjoying lots of good eats, and lots more. There’s something special about spending some well-earned time off with your cohort in a beautiful, fun city 🫶🏼

Class of ‘26 - may we never forget the great GPS debacle that was Stansbury Island 😅

Also, so good to see one of our ‘25 grads, Jake Rice!! Thanks for showing us around!

🌟 Intern Spotlight 🌟

Meet Kyle, aka Dr. Curlee!

Kyle is from Magee, MS. He did his undergrad at Mississippi College, and went to VCOM Auburn for med school. He joined the Mississippi Air National Guard during his freshman year of college and has been in it for nearly nine years. 🇺🇸
His wife, Christin, and he have a daughter, Blake, and two dogs named Manning and Benelli.
Kyle enjoys spending time with family and friends, running, hiking, and enjoying the great outdoors. He’s also a big fan of the Atlanta Braves and Ole Miss! He’s most excited to gain the skills and confidence needed to become the best ER physician he can be — someone who can think and act quickly while providing high-quality care to every patient who comes in.

We love that mentality, Kyle!!

Meet Carlie!

Carlie is from Cut Off, LA (aka “down the bayou.”) She did her undergrad at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, grad school at Mississippi College, and finished up with med school at LSU NOLA! Outside of medicine, her interests include building Legos, cooking, playing board games, reading, DIY home projects, hanging out with her family, and writing. She’s most looking forward to: “more autonomy with patient care. Procedures! Procedures! Procedures! And delivering a baby! “

Cash grew up in Jackson, MS. He attended the University of Mississippi for undergrad, and went to UMMC for medical school. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, golfing, and Jiu Jitsu. He’s most looking forward to getting to know his co-residents and expanding his medical knowledge!

Meet Bailey!

Originally from Lexington, KY, Bailey earned his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Kentucky before continuing on to the UK College of Medicine. Outside of medicine, he enjoys traveling, playing tabletop games, and spending time on the pickleball court. He is especially excited about getting involved in medical education!

Jacob is from right here in Jackson, MS. He completed his undergraduate education at MS State and medical school at VCOM Auburn. He has a few hobbies outside of medicine - gardening, alligator hunting 🐊, and spending time outdoors. He’s most looking forward to bettering his skills for his future patients!

Next up is Omeed!

Originally from Charlotte, NC, [Name] spent 20 years in Southern California before heading to UMMC. He completed his undergraduate studies at Cal State Dominguez Hills and earned his medical degree from St. George’s University. Outside of medicine, he’s passionate about anything with two wheels and a motor—whether it’s motorcycles or dirt bikes. He also enjoys ranching, spending time in nature, going to the shooting range, gaming, and listening to country and metal music. He’s genuinely excited to become the best ER physician he can be and is committed to learning as much as possible to help every patient he encounters.

Cade is from Brandon, MS. He went to Mississippi College for undergrad and UMMC for med school. He loves reading, running, and spending time with family and friends—especially his daughter, Mia. He’s most excited to finally live out his dream of helping people every day.
