We are looking for more egg cartons. If anyone in the area has any you can donate we would appreciate it. 12 or 18 egg cartons preferably. You can drop them by whenever. Thank you.

Also if you are interested in some farm fresh eggs from our chickens, our guys are at the end of our road (FOA Rd.) on Hwy 49 from around 2p every afternoon until they sell out.

We will be having our baptism service tonight at 6p. Thanks to Riverwood Bible Church for allowing us to use their church for this event. If you want to watch the service it will be carried on YouTube live. Just search Riverwood Bible Church.

We are having a baptism service at Riverwood Bible Church tomorrow night at 6p and have to transport all our guys over there. I still need 1 or 2 vehicles and drivers to help get all our guys over there. If you are in the area and would be willing to help, please let me know. We would be leaving our facility at 5:15 and probably back around 7:45p. Thank you

In our garden at FOA, our rows are 350 feet long. Needless to say when you are working a row it can get pretty discouraging if you keep looking up to see how much further you have to go. Instead, you just have to focus on what is right in front of you and doing the best job with the plant in front of you.

Many times in our lives we can get overwhelmed, fearful or anxious about what lies ahead or goals we want to accomplish. We want things to move faster, but the Lord is using each step to teach us and prepare us for what lies ahead. Don't spend so much time looking down the road that you miss out on what the Lord wants to do in you right now. His Word is a lamp unto our feet. Preparation is key to Christian growth.

Cultivation is essential for growth and fruit bearing. One part of cultivation is weeding so plants don't get choked out. The sooner those weeds can get pulled before they get rooted in strongly, the better. The weeds that are closest to the plant take the most time to remove. Some weeds like morning glories are beautiful but will choke out the plant if allowed to continue to grow...just ask anyone who was pulling corn with a machete in one hand last year.

We too can have weeds in our life trying to choke out our growth in the Lord. And the ones closest to our hearts are dealt with by the patient gardener of our lives...our Heavenly Father. Even the things that we hold up as beautiful sometimes have to be removed by Him for our growth and fruit bearing. But be confident of this, anything He removes has to go anyway. Let His Word pe*****te our hearts so that these weeds don't take strong roots in our lives.

I think I mentioned in a previous post that we have started raising chickens at FOA. I'll try to get some of our chicken's pics posted soon (including baby chicks).

But what we are in need of right now is egg cartons. So if you are in the area and you usually throw those away we could definitely use them. 12 or 18 egg cartons that could be dropped off. Thanks so much!

Our circumstances will never change the character of God, but when we know God's character, those truths will definitely affect the way we walk through our circumstances.

There will be many types of celebrations of the New Year, but each year we have a special service at FOA to give opportunity to our students and staff not to make resolutions of what we will do this upcoming year, but to remember what Christ has done and look forward to what He can do in our lives as we are conformed to His image by our loving Heavenly Father. Finally, we have the opportunity to take communion on the final day of this year to remember the death of Jesus Christ and celebrate the great salvation we have in Him.

A few of our guys tonight were reminded of where they were last year at this time dealing with heartache and pain and in the midst of addiction issues. So, no matter where you are tonight, I hope you know the love of the Lord and that His desire is for you to look to Him for light and life rather than walk in darkness and death.

Remember as we start a new year that you can't go back and change the past but you can press forward with your eyes on Jesus. And if you find yourself afraid or anxious, learn from the words of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20:12 "...for we are powerless against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on You". Then the Lord answered in v. 15 "do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God's". And v. 17, "You need not fight in this battle; take your position, stand and watch the salvation of the Lord in your behalf".

May our life in this night and this new year be characterized by trusting in the Lord! Isaiah 26:3

"This was the best Christmas I've had in years" was a comment I received this morning from one of our students after our Christmas program last night. It may be hard to think that would be the case for someone who is in a program to get help with drug and alcohol addiction, but compared to years in jail or on the streets or with little to no family relationships, this is exactly the situation. This is the hope that comes when you experience the love of Christ.

We had a great time focusing on the incarnation of Christ leading to His death on the cross to pay our sin debt as our substitute. And of course, the fact of His resurrection and the hope we have as believers because our Savior lives and is coming back.

We also did some fun skits to bring in some laughter like "Little Nemo and Nemona" that we do each year (pic above).

And we were able to bless each of our students with a gift bag and to share with them that these bags were provided for people in the community who love them and are praying for them and wanted to give so they could have a Christmas gift this year (for some of our men this will be the only Christmas gift they receive this year). So thank you to all who gave to make this special for our men this year.

We pray you have a merry Christmas celebrating the birth of our Savior and the hope we have in Him!

Well...it's freezing outside! Supposed to be 15 low tonight, 28 high tomorrow and 12 tomorrow night - so actually freezing and we aren't about this in Mississippi!

So I thought I would share a quote about winter that I read recently in regards to our spiritual life - From 12-6 in the devotional None But the Hungry Heart:

"Our Father’s living waters flow both in summer and winter (Zech. 14:8). He provides the barrenness of winter in order to cut us off from every other supply, and teach us to draw from His ever-flowing water of life.

The Father passes us through all the seasons here; and the winter, the most trying one, is the most helpful, if we are really cast on Him in it. Then the real measure of our dependence on Him is ascertained, and also the extent of our resources in Him; and we make acquisitions in Him which we never make at any other time. All our growth and fruit depend on our winters, or rather on how we pass through them."

I hope that may encourage you. We might have some frozen pipes but the Father's living waters are always flowing through His Son within the life of the believer. Our Father wastes nothing! If you are in a season of winter in life know that He is the One on Whom we can and must cling!

Stay warm!
