Did you know that children grow and develop the most while they’re asleep?
Sleep isn’t just about rest, it’s when the body repairs, the brain processes learning, and growth hormones do their most important work.
How Much Sleep Do Kids Need?
🍼 Infants (0–12 months): 12–16 hours (including naps)
👶 Toddlers (1–2 years): 11–14 hours
🧒 Preschoolers (3–5 years): 10–13 hours
👦 School-age kids (6–12 years): 9–12 hours
👩🎓 Teens (13–18 years): 8–10 hours
Without enough sleep, kids may struggle with mood swings, focus, behavior, and even growth.
Tips for a Healthy Bedtime Routine
🌙 Set a schedule – Aim for the same bedtime and wake-up time daily.
📵 Limit screen time – Turn off TVs, tablets, and phones at least 1 hour before bed.
📖 Create calm – Bedtime stories, soft music, or gentle stretches can help relax the body.
🛏️ Make the bedroom sleep-friendly – Keep it cool, dark, and quiet.
🍬 Avoid late snacks with sugar or caffeine – These can keep kids wired when they should be winding down.
At The Kidz Care Klinic, we remind families that sleep is just as important as nutrition and exercise for growing children. A well-rested child is a happy, healthy child!
