Are you hearing a lot of advertising about Medicare Advantage plans? A Medicare Advantage plan might be from the company you had coverage with before you retired and advertise offering extra benefits over traditional Medicare. These plans are not the same as traditional Medicare. Some Medicare Advantage plans may offer fewer options for doctors and hospitals, as they may have smaller plan networks than conventional Medicare. Other disadvantages may include additional costs and lack of coverage while traveling.

We encourage our Medicare-eligible residents to ask questions before selecting a Medicare Advantage plan. Ask if your doctor is an in-network provider. Ask about limits on coverage for hospital stays. Now is the perfect time to gather information and talk to your healthcare team. Beginning November 1, you are eligible to enroll in traditional Medicare or change plans.
