Paul Mills Fisher, 88, of Jackson, TN passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026 surrounded by his family following a life marked by strength, kindness, and dedication to his loved ones. He was born on June 26, 1937 in Bemis, TN to the late William Benton and Acenah (Mills) Fisher.

After graduating from JB Young High School in Bemis, Paul enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in Korea. He attended Union University, where he received a bachelor of science in biology with a business minor. He managed LK Rush, co-owned Fisher Electronics with his brother George and was the owner of Old Hickory Electronics, where he proudly sold the first VCR in Jackson, TN. Paul thoroughly enjoyed working with his nephews Jeff Cooper and Ralph Fisher installing antenna towers. More recently, he delivered Thrifty Nickel papers and worked lawn care until his retirement.

Paul was a member of First Baptist Church of Bemis and Bible Grove Baptist Church of Jackson where he served as an usher. His faith was strong and he was always willing to help others without a need for recognition.

Deeply cherished were the times spent with family at the annual Fisher Family reunions held in Bemis, TN and Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Stories about fishing, growing up in Bemis, and spending time with his grandkids were among his favorite things. There wasn’t a classic movie, especially a Western, that he hadn’t watched. His children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews have many “Paul stories” to keep his humor and laughter alive.

Paul is survived by his wife, Beverly; children, Paula Peftoulidis (George) and Jason Fisher (Gina); grandchildren, Alex Peftoulidis, Blake Peftoulidis, Gaby Fisher and Jackson Fisher. He is also survived by a sister, Alice Isaac; three brothers, Bobby (Dorothy) Fisher, David (Annette) Fisher, and Ken (Susan) Fisher; and many nieces and nephews who adored him.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his siblings, William Benton Fisher Jr., Nell Jones, Betty Short, Thomas Fisher, Louise Blankenship, George Fisher, Ronald Fisher and Richard Fisher.

Visitation will be on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at George A. Smith & Sons North Jackson with a celebration of life service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Bible Grove Baptist Church of Jackson or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.

We would like to thank the staff at the Tennessee State Veteran’s Home in Humboldt for taking such good care of our Dad and a very special thanks to our Uncle Kenny and Aunt Susan for their constant love and support for our Dad and us.

Carolyn Sue Smith Alvis passed away in Jackson, Tennessee on February 14, 2026 on Valentine’s Day so she will forever be in our hearts full of love.

She was born in Tamms Illinois on November 9, 1941. The daughter of the late Ralph and Goldie Dailey Smith. Carolyn was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished friend who dedicated her life to her family and her church.

She will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith. Mom read her Bible every day and made sure we were raised in church. Even when dad worked nights, we were always 15 minutes late, but we were always there. She was a beautiful example of what God expected of us, and she lived it every single day without fail. She never had an unkind word to say about anyone and only saw the good. I have to say she was also feisty and funny and loved to laugh. Even if it was at our expense.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Loag Smith.

She is survived by her beloved husband, William E. Alvis of Jackson whom she was two months short of being married to for 64 years; her children, James Alvis (Beth), Cindy Alvis Davisson (Jon), and John Alvis (Denise); grandchildren, Christopher Davisson (Lauren), Logan Davisson, Lauren Alvis, Ryan Alvis (Rosalynn Jordan) and their sweet great granddaughter Kopelynn Alvis. She is also survived by her sister, June Smith Crisler.

She will be forever missed but live in our hearts forever until the Lord reunites us in Heaven. Mom is healed from Parkinson’s. She fought harder and stronger than anyone could have. If fighting could have cured this disease it would never have had a chance. She defied it every single day like a warrior!

The other half of our heart is now in Heaven reunited with her loved ones gone before. Mom, you have left a legacy in your family, and we will do our very best to honor you and be the children you raised us to be! To earn the privilege of holding you again. To make you proud in every way possible and let your love light and faith shine through us to others so they too will know the endlessly amazing mom and Christian you were.

A service to celebrate the life of Carolyn Alvis will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the North Chapel of George North Chapel of George A. Smith & Sons Funeral Home Jackson Tennessee with Mike Gillespie officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery. Donald Ray Lewis died February 16th peacefully in his home surrounded by family at the age of 90.

Don was born in 1935 in Camden, Arkansas to Carl and Eddith Lewis. He completed Camden High School in 1953 and went on graduate from the University of Arkansas undergraduate and Medical Schools, where he met the love of his life Patricia (Patty) Pyeatt. The two were married in 1959 - an event he considered the most important in his life. During his residency in Little Rock, Arkansas, Don and Patty had their two children Leslie and Matthew. In 1966, after completing his residency program, Don moved the family to Jackson, Tennessee, and joined the Women’s Clinic OB/GYN practice. He would go on to serve the Clinic, helping shepherd it through two new building moves and strong growth, until his retirement in 2001.

During his time in Jackson, Don was Chief of Staff of Jackson Madison County General Hospital, a Founding Member of the Episcopal Day School, Co-Founder of Jackson Choral Society, and a Member of the Forked Deer River C**n Club, among many other activities and achievements. He and Patty were dedicated members of First Presbyterian church where Don served as Deacon, Elder and, his favorite, member of the choir.

Having practiced medicine for 35 years in Jackson, it was not uncommon for Don to run into a woman he helped or a baby he delivered almost everywhere he went. Whether dodging a minor traffic infraction because he delivered the patrolman’s child, or interrupting a shopping trip because he treated the checkout lady, or getting full service at a gas station long after that tradition had past because he delivered the owner’s grandchild — it seemed like everyone knew Dr. Lewis. In every case, he greeted every person’s story with grace, humility, and an assurance that he did remember that baby, or that patient. He helped and will be missed by many throughout the greater Jackson area.

After retirement, Don devoted himself to an active volunteer role with West Tennessee Home Hospice Care, and The Donald R. Lewis Fund for Women’s Health. In his later years, his favorite morning activity was coffee in his cottage with his daughter before heading to The Lift to workout with his friends.

Don was pre-deceased by his father Carl, mother Eddith, brother James, and his beloved wife Patty. He is survived by his daughter Leslie Granberry (Marc), son Matthew Lewis (Leah), grandchildren Eden Feducia (A.J.), Whitney Brzozowski (Jake), Foster Lewis (Vanda) and Dr. Francesca Granberry (Olivia), great grandchildren Georgia Feducia and Galina Lewis, and niece Susan Canavan of Massachusetts and nephew Dr. Jimmy Lewis of Arizona.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Sunday February 22nd at 2 p.m. preceded by visitation next to the sanctuary at Memorial Hall beginning at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Donald R. Lewis Fund for Women’s Health through the West Tennessee Health Care.

Suzanne Thornton Nelson, age 80, passed away in her apartment in Jackson, Tennessee, on February 12, 2026.

Suzanne was born on May 28, 1945, to Charlotte and Dempsey Thornton. She grew up alongside her siblings, older brother Donald “Don” Thornton, who preceded her in death, and her younger sister, Mary, who survives her.

She was formerly married to Frank Nelson, who also preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Wendi Johnson, and her grandson, T.J. Johnson. Of all her roles in life, being “Mom” and “Grandmother” was her greatest joy. Her love for her daughter and grandson was deep and evident - she saved every photo she could find of them just to look at again later.

Suzanne worked many years at BancorpSouth in Jackson before her retirement. She had a generous spirit and loved giving gifts, especially handmade ones. For many years she enjoyed knitting items for those she loved. She delighted in simple pleasures — tending gardens, caring for animals, watching old John Wayne westerns, and spending time with her little dog, Tucker, who was her constant companion for the past six years. Her favorite colors were yellow and pink.

Suzanne was deeply committed to her Christian faith. She read Scripture regularly, loved the old Southern Baptist hymns, and often hummed along when one was played. She frequently spoke of the Lord’s goodness and was ready for His coming. Her faith brought her comfort in every lonely moment and strength through every struggle.

While her passing came as a shock, her family rejoices in the hope that she is now free from pain and struggle, reunited with her parents, her brother, and her Savior, the Prince of Peace. She no longer labors for energy, no longer struggles with frailty, but rests fully in the presence of the Lord she faithfully trusted.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 17, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at George A. Smith & Sons Funeral Home in Jackson, Tennessee. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m., with the service beginning at 1:30 p.m.

JoAnn Morris, age 92, died peacefully at home surrounded by friends and family on Monday, February 9, 2026.

She was a two-time cancer survivor and a victim of Alzheimer’s dementia. Born as JoAnn Malone, in Friendship, Tennessee, she was preceded in death by her mother Algie Lou Malone Kenner and stepfather, Neal Kenner of Alamo, Tennessee. In 1953, JoAnn married Lowell “Poston” Morris of Mercer, Tennessee. June of 2025, after 71 years of marriage, Poston preceded her in death due to pancreatic cancer.

JoAnn graduated as valedictorian and played basketball for Alamo High School. As a Dean’s List graduate of West Tennessee Business College, she pursued a career in bookkeeping where she worked as an in-office employee as well as picking up work for home bookkeeping jobs for several small businesses in town. During this time in the 1970’s, not only was she a housewife and mother of three, she was the bookkeeper for their 24-hour wrecker service and up to three full-service gas stations she and Poston owned (owning one of the two wrecker services available in Jackson at the time). Later, as she continued her various bookkeeping jobs, she began working for the Madison County Courthouse. Shy of being a 30-year employee, she retired as Chief Register of Deeds for the courthouse. After retirement, until the last 10 years, she continued to work at the voting polls for the Madison County Election Commission.

First and foremost, JoAnn was a dedicated Christian. She was a great Christian role model, wife and mother. She mastered self-control, refraining from regret of words spoken in anger, by her “look” or appropriately timed sigh. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Alamo and in 1960, she and Poston became members and oftentimes, taught Sunday School at Poplar Heights Baptist Church in Jackson (currently Hope Life Church). JoAnn was an avid book reader. She also liked word puzzle books and was a loyal Wheel of Fortune viewer, often solving the puzzles before the contestants.

Elvis Presley songs cheered her up and anytime she heard his songs, her feet would start moving whether awake or in the middle of sleeping. She loved dancing. She enjoyed camping, fishing and canning from their gardens. At family gatherings, she had special requests for fresh cooked or their canned garden vegetables, her homemade cornbread, lemon tea and Butterfinger cake. Breakfast, lunch and supper always began with thanks and prayer and ended with dessert after lunch and supper. At various properties they owned, including their 2-story cabin “the land” built mostly by family and friends, she enjoyed cooking/preparing meals for friends and family who gathered for hunting trips and fellowship. She had a passion for preparing the homegrown produce from their gardens. When family or anyone would stop by for a visit or otherwise, you would leave with their garden fresh vegetables or produce already canned. Oftentimes, family, friends and others who would hear of their bigger, better tasting vegetables, would call-in pick-up orders.

She is survived by three children: Lowell Steven “Steve” Morris (Rhonda), Connie Morris Brandon (Terry Rhodes), and Carla Morris Rader (Jeffrie “Jeff”). She leaves behind six grandchildren, Joshua “Josh” Rader, Jacob Brandon, Aaron Morris (Taylor), Ashton Rader (Christian “Crissi”), Brooks Morris and Breeanna “Bree” Rader. She also leaves behind six great-grandchildren, Halle Miller, Blake Rader, Kiley Rader, Kynlee Powell, Hunt Rader, Camilo Morris and a 7th great-grandchild, Bradford “Brady” Lowe Morris expected to arrive in May of this year.

Officiating Funeral Services: George A. Smith and Sons, North Chapel and Bro. Richard Bragg of Hope Life Church, Jackson, TN.

Visitation is to be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at George A. Smith and Sons, North Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with funeral services at 1:00 and burial to directly follow at Brownsville Memorial Gardens in Brownsville, Tennessee.

Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren, Joshua “Josh” Rader, Jacob Brandon, Ashton Rader, Aaron Morris, Brooks Morris and Breeanna “Bree” Rader with alternate honorary pallbearer her great grandson, Blake Rader. Pianist: Frank Neely. Soloist: Bonay Neely.

Dear to the family’s heart are The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, The American Cancer Society, and Hope Life Church (formerly Poplar Heights Baptist Church) Jackson, TN. Contributions in her honor are appreciated.

Upon graduation, he attended the Vanderbilt Medical School in Nashville, Tennessee. He had a medical fellowship to attend the University of Virginia.

During the Vietnam War, he served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force. He practiced medicine while stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base. He began his cardiology practice in Orlando, Florida after receiving his Board- certified credentials and was also Chief of Medical Staff at Lucerne Hospital in Orlando, Florida.

In his mid-life, he developed his love of the Tennessee Walking Horses and showed and loved his favorites like Ebony’s Smokin’ Sun, Pride’s Final Attraction, Gold Picture, and The American Choice. Later in life he loved Red Sparrow, Dixie White Socks, Sadie Hawkins and Longmire. He and his wife enjoyed breeding, showing and trail riding at their Walnut Ridge farm in Humboldt/ Medina Tennessee. They were each other’s greatest fan when the other was in the ring. When Cliff could no longer ride, he was always cheering in the stands for Linda and even taking photos of her around the ring until his health did not permit.

Dr. Garrard is survived by his wife of 30 years, Dr. Linda Howell Garrard, two sons: Dr. Clifford Louis Garrard, III and wife, Karlen Mitchell Garrard and John Vernon Garrard; grandchildren: Clifford Louis Garrard, IV (Taylor) of Nashville, Tennessee, Paul Mitchell Garrard of Charlottesville, Virginia, Cornelia Frances Garrard of New York, New York, Anne Elizabeth Garrard of London, England, Mary Garrard Whitehead (Neville) of Jackson, Mississippi, Eleanor Garrard of Brentwood, Tennessee; brother, Robert Frank Garrard (Kay) and his nieces Leigh Garrard Mullholland of Kansas City, Kansas and Laura Garrard Nordell (Mike) of Port Angeles, Washington.
