There are so many wonderful things happening in 4-H across North Carolina and beyond, and we love celebrating when the hard work of our youth is recognized. 📣 Northampton County 4-H Clubs!

School is back in session and life is busy—but your child may still be looking for something fun and meaningful to be part of. 4-H can help with that! 🌱✨

Here’s what’s happening with our clubs currently in Northampton County:

✅ 4-H Creatives (ages 5–11) – 2nd Tuesday at 5:30 pm | Next: Oct. 21
✅ 4-H Explorers (ages 12–18) – 3rd Tuesday at 6:00 pm | Next: Oct. 28 (No meeting 9/23/25)
✅ Herford–Northampton Livestock 4-H (ages 5–18) – Starting back in October (details soon!)

Youth can join more than one club—so if your child wants to explore different opportunities, they can! 🙌

Hey everyone!

We’re starting back our 4-H club meetings this month, and we can’t wait to connect with our awesome 5–11 year olds next week. Then our amazing 12–18 year olds the following week! Remember, ages are based on your youth’s age as of January 1, 2025.

If you’re part of Northampton County 4-H come on out and join us at the Northampton County Cooperative Extension Office in Jackson, NC, for these opportunities.

We are happy to share that Matthew Daughtry will be serving as our Northampton County 4-H YouthVoice Representative at the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners Annual Conference, taking place August 22–23, 2025, in Greenville, NC. YouthVoice is done in conjunction with this annual gathering.

In July, Matthew had the opportunity to share his passion for our community and youth programming with our commissioners and the public during a county commissioners meeting.

At the conference, Matthew will join youth from across the state to connect with county leaders, gain a deeper understanding of local government, and participate in meaningful conversations about our communities.

This week has been a fun week at NC 4-H Congress at NC State University. Our youth delegates participated in a variety of workshops and events from Teachnology to Biolabs and more. They also helped put together Thank You bags for Habitat for Humanity. It has been a busy but great week!

And a special shout out to Aleigha for placing silver for her age group in the State 4-H Outdoor Cookery, Pork Char-grill competition. She did great and represented Northampton well!

Good Morning 4-H friends! 🍀

We have lots going on today, 7/18.

Our rescheduled fishing day is today 9-2. If you signed up for Fishing Camp we can’t wait to see you there! 🎣

If fishing isn’t your thing, FREE MOVIE FRIDAY is still happening in the classroom from 9-12. We will be watching Encanto and doing a craft. Beat the heat and come hang out. No preregistration required.

We’re bursting with joy as we celebrate the six incredible youth who represented Northampton County 4-H yesterday at the Northeast 4-H District Activity Day! And many congrats to all the other Northeast 4-H youth who participated.

Three of our youngest participants took the spotlight in the Cloverbud Category, where youth ages 5–7 get to present on a topic of their choice. This non-competitive experience is all about building confidence, practicing public speaking, sharing about interests, and having fun! Our three young ladies did just that! Way to go, Cloverbuds!

In the competitive rounds, three more youth stepped up to showcase their skills—two in Careers & Entrepreneurship (across different age divisions) and one in Pork Char-Grill. We are thrilled to announce that two of them earned placements:

🥉 Jacob earned Bronze for his presentation titled "Hitting 4 Dollars"
🥇 Aleigha earned Gold with her "Hawaiian Saucy Dreams" (Pork Char Grill)

While our third competitor didn’t place, he showed impressive growth as a senior-level presenter—his first time in this age category! We’re incredibly proud of these three competitors for their hard work, courage, and dedication.

And we can’t forget the amazing parents who made this all possible. We truly don’t know what we’d do without our 4-H families. Thank you a million times over for helping make these opportunities a reality!

But the excitement isn’t over yet… Aleigha is advancing to State Presentation Finals to represent Northampton County! 🎉 Let’s cheer her on as she heads to the next level!

Join us today from 11 AM–12 PM at the Wellness Center in Jackson for a fun and flavorful lesson with our Family & Consumer Science Agent! 🌶️

While adults learn about the health benefits of cooking with spices, kids can join 4-H for a hands-on mini cooking and spice activity of their own. 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

School may be out, but the learning (and fun!) doesn’t stop. Bring the whole family and stir up something special with us!
