November is National Diabetes Month. Did you know that individuals living with mental illness, substance use disorders (SUDs), or both are at increased risk for developing diabetes? Mental illness reduces the likelihood that a person with diabetes will be properly treated, just as mental illness is associated with other disparities in care. Hinds Behavioral Health Services - Region 9 offers access to primary care via a partnership with Central MS Health Services. When you schedule your appointment with one of our mental health staff, you can also schedule a primary care visit.

Hinds Behavioral Health Services - Region 9 staff support breast cancer survivors and fighters. The risk of su***de among cancer patients is approximately twice as high as in the general population. Factors like untreated depression, uncontrolled pain, and lack of social support can increase this risk. *MDPI

Youth and families with 2 or more missed psych and/or group appointments over the last 3 months due to transportation barriers are eligible for the service.
