We are relocated!
Still much to do but lobby, reception, restroom and 3 offices are ready. Please be aware we will be forwarding phones to the office manager's phone until Sept. 2 and will not have internet services at the new office until then as well. You will see some dust, some work to be done, but nothing that will create any issues for our services.

Remember the new office is 2575 Spring Arbor Rd. Suite 300. It is the first building in Summit Woods Professional Park. Phone number remains the same as do contact emails for your therapist.

We will have a small "open house" after the renovations are completed.

Thanks for your patience over the next week or so and thanks for your patronage, love and support over these 30 plus years.

How your brain copes with grief, and why it takes time to heal Grieving is a form of learning, says a scientist who studies the brain's response to loss. When someone you love dies, you have to learn new rules for navigating the world and your brain has to adapt.

Remember, these numbers are "ideal", but may not be realistic for every couple -- do what you can, when you can. :-)

Dr. John Gottman found that couples who dedicate at least six intentional hours per week on their relationship notice an improvement in communication, fondness and admiration, and attunement.

If the thought of budgeting time sounds intimidating, remember that healthy relationships grow from small moments of connection in everyday life.

Consider these questions:

How do you and your partner greet each other in the morning?
If you're both working from home, what's your favorite way to show affection?
Do you make an effort to learn about your partner's day?
When was the last time you had a State of the Union Meeting to discuss your romance and plan your future together?

Don't underestimate the small moments in your relationship. Making the effort to turn towards each other every day can make all the difference. Jackson Interfaith Shelter info:

We’ve been receiving some questions recently regarding our hours of operation, how many open beds we have available, who can receive the community meals we offer three times a day, etc. Please share this information so everyone in our community is aware of where to best steer people who may be in need of food and shelter.

The pandemic has been a challenge for all, especially those experiencing homelessness, but we have remained open through it all and will continue our 24/7 services to ensure all who need a warm place to stay have a roof over their head and three meals a day. We have had to lower our capacity slightly to ensure proper social distancing, but even still, we typically have many open beds available each night.

In addition to our emergency shelter service, we offer three prepared meals each day to anyone in the community. At 7:30 am, 12 pm and 5 pm all are welcome to have a free to-go meal, even if they are not residing at the shelter. So if you are downtown and someone on the street approaches you asking for food, you can let them know they will be able to get free breakfast, lunch and dinner just up the street at Jackson Interfaith Shelter.

We’re so grateful for the many individuals, churches and businesses who have allowed us to continue offering all of our services.

If you ever have questions or want to learn more about the work we are doing here at JIS, please reach out! You can call us directly at 517-789-8735 or email [email protected].

Bipolar disorder is not the same as the typical ups and downs every kid goes through. The mood swings are more extreme and accompanied by changes in sleep, energy level, and the ability to think clearly. While bipolar disorder is far less common than depression in adolescents, it can be extremely impairing and is associated with a high risk for su***de if untreated.
