Our team members recently attended an open house for the parents of children who attend the Felician Children's Center. They connected with parents, provided educational information, and had giveaways for the children. It's always a great day when we can connect with our community!

We’re excited to share a new eco-friendly initiative between Henry Ford Jackson Hospital and the City of Jackson Youth Council!

Thanks to the leadership of Group Practice Director Brittany Stepnowski, and the Youth Council’s Eco-Friendly Committee, we’ve launched a can collection program that turns recycling into support for local youth.

The Youth Council will pick up cans regularly, using the funds to support their projects and community efforts. The program kicked off recently and will soon expand to more clinics. A simple can truly can make a difference!

The Diabetes Prevention Program was designed to help participants make lasting lifestyle changes to cut their risk of getting type 2 diabetes by more than half. The group will meet every Wednesday, beginning Oct. 1, 2025 through Feb. 4, 2026.

Join us next Wednesday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Henry Ford Community Education Center inside the Downtown Jackson YMCA.

What started as a terrifying moment for 10-year-old Pierson and his family turned into a story of healing, compassion and hope at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital.

When Pierson was diagnosed with viral meningitis, the Emergency and Pediatric teams cared for him like he was the only patient in the hospital—listening to his fears, explaining every step, and even making sure a chocolate muffin “magically” appeared when he asked for one.

Today Pierson is back to playing sports with renewed energy—and even dreams of a future in healthcare, inspired by the kindness and expertise of his care teams.

We’re proud to provide advanced pediatric care close to home so families like the Jordons can focus on what matters most: healing together.

Dr. Mohan Kulkarni recently sat down with JTV to share details about the cancer care open house taking place Tuesday, Sept. 23, from 4-7 pm at Henry Ford Hematology & Oncology in Jackson.

The tour will highlight expanded treatment space, radiation oncology renovations, advanced screening and prevention, and comprehensive supportive care. This event is free and open to the public.

An annual lung cancer screening—which takes just a few seconds—saves lives.

To qualify for lung cancer screenings, you have to be at least age 50 and smoke a 20-pack-year, meaning you’ve smoked a pack of ci******es a day for 20 years. In 2024, the Henry Ford Jackson Lung Cancer Screening Program detected over 50% of lung cancer cases in early-stage disease. “Yearly low-dose CT scans are so important for those who are eligible,” says Samir Parikh, M.D., a radiologist at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital. “The whole idea is to detect lung cancer early when it can be treated more effectively."

While some people are hesitant to get a low-dose CT scan because of radiation exposure, rest assured that it's just that - a very low dose of radiation. And if you are at risk for lung cancer, a yearly scan can be lifesaving.

🚧 Temporary Entrance Alert 🚧

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 9, patients visiting Henry Ford Urology – Jackson and the Henry Ford Milk Bank – Jackson will need to use a temporary entrance off Waterloo Street.

Access from East Ave. will be closed due to city water main work, which is expected to last about 10 weeks.

Please plan a few extra minutes for your visit. Thank you for your patience as this important work is completed.

Though it’s been over 13 years since Jessica Decker last worked at the bedside, her nursing instincts remained sharp—and recently, they saved a life.

Walking into church with her son, Jessica noticed a few parishioners around a gentleman in the pews ahead. “ I could just tell something wasn’t right,” she said. Jessica quickly moved to the front of the church to assess the situation, and with assistance, positioned the man on the ground and began CPR.

While the moment was extraordinary, it was simply a reflection of the compassion and character Jessica brings every day.

“Choosing nursing was a deeply personal and meaningful decision for me,” she says. “I’ve always been drawn to helping others, especially in their most vulnerable moments.”

Our nurse practitioner Ronda Albrecht and Dr. Mohan Kulkarni from Henry Ford Thoracic Surgery - Jackson joined Bart Hawley on JTV to discuss their recently expanded practice, now serving patients in Hillsdale. The practice focuses on treating reflux diseases, lung cancer and other thoracic conditions.
