Meet Jacob Robertson — a U.S. Army National Guard Veteran whose determination and competitive spirit continue to inspire. After sustaining life-changing injuries in a motorcycle accident in 2014, Jacob has found renewed purpose through adaptive sports. Now in his second year as a novice at the National Veterans Wheelchair Games, he recently brought home two gold medals and a silver, competing in team softball, adaptive fitness/powerlifting, and bowling.

Jacob trains with discipline, beginning each day with strength training and pushing through physical and mental challenges with unwavering motivation. His message to others: “Just because you’re in a wheelchair doesn’t mean you can’t live an active lifestyle.”

We’re proud to celebrate Jacob’s continued success and are honored to share his journey.

From Hattiesburg, MS to the Warrior Games, U.S. Army Pfc. Colby Maury-Rice showed the world what resilience looks like.

Nearly two years ago, Colby was relearning how to walk after surviving a near fatal heatstroke and spending months in a coma. Last week, this Hattiesburg native suited up in Colorado Springs to compete in shot put, archery, and indoor rowing as part of Team Army at the 2025 Department of Defense Warrior Games.

His journey from recovery to competition was nothing short of extraordinary and a powerful reminder that with hometown grit and unwavering determination, anything is possible.
