Last week, the Center for Development & Civic Engagement received generous support from several community partners.

Ms. Susan Andrews and Ms. Cecilia James of the Chief Red Jacket Chapter, DAR, donated twelve gift bags filled with baby afghans and stuffed animals to support our recent Women's Health Baby Shower.

In addition, Mr. Robert Stringer from the American Red Cross donated coffee, creamer, and Splenda. These thoughtful contributions played a meaningful role in enhancing the comfort and care we provide to our Veterans, and we are grateful for their continued support.

Veterans began arriving early for our Drive-Thru Food Pantry, with one Veteran sharing he got in line at 3:13 a.m.

Throughout the morning, staff and volunteers worked together to keep the line moving and ensure each Veteran received food and essential items in a timely manner.

In recognition of Women’s History Month, the Center for Development and Civic Engagement invited members of the Divine Nine sororities to volunteer and support this effort. Their time and service helped us reach more Veterans and keep operations running smoothly.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to yesterday’s event and helped us continue serving Veterans across our community.

Happy Health Professions Education Week! 🎓✨

This week, we recognize the vital role of health professions trainees and the dedicated faculty and staff who train and support them. As the largest health professions training system in the nation, VA plays a key role in shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals while continuing to provide high-quality care to Veterans.

On Friday, the Women’s Health service successfully hosted our Quarterly Baby Shower and Focus Group for expecting women with due dates between April and June 2026. This special event provided both celebration and meaningful engagement, honoring our Veterans while gathering valuable feedback to enhance maternity care services.

We were deeply grateful for the support of our community partners. The Red Jacket Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, generously provided twelve gift bags filled with handmade baby afghans and stuffed animals for our expecting mothers. Their thoughtful contributions added a meaningful and personal touch to the event.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to our Amazon partners. Collaborations like this ensure we can expand our reach, enhance the care we deliver, and create welcoming, supportive environments for Veterans and their families. We extend our deepest appreciation to Amazon for their continued commitment to our mission and our community.

Green took over the medical center today as staff brought a little green into the workday in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day.

From clinics to offices, teams joined in with simple touches of green that added some energy to the day while continuing to provide care and support to Veterans.

Appreciate everyone who participated and helped create a positive environment for both our Veterans and each other.

Life happens. We understand.

But missing an appointment without canceling can delay your care and may require restarting your referral or consult.

A no-show doesn’t just affect one appointment — it can impact follow-up treatment and access for fellow Veterans.

If you can’t attend, cancel as soon as possible.
