Storm winds don’t ask if you’re ready. They arrive upon us brutally, throwing debris from every direction, slicing through your confidence, spinning your sanity, and making you question if you will even make it through. Most won’t see or understand the storm you’re transcending. From the outside, it may look like you’re gliding steadily in the eye of the storm, but they don’t see your wings straining under the fierceness of the wind, or notice the scars your body has taken from the proverbial beating you’ve endured just in this storm.

Draw strength from your core and never underestimate the resiliency that lives within you. Throttle into the wind, and keep flying through…refuge is just ahead…

Children who are taught to obey all adults without question are easier to groom. Replace blind obedience with critical thinking, body autonomy, and open conversation.

The research is clear: 90% of child sexual abuse victims know their abuser. That includes family members, a parent’s partner, close friends, teachers, coaches, even youth ministers.

Empower your child to trust their instincts, even when the adult seems trustworthy. Their safety depends on it.

Remember the story of the Scorpion & the Frog? Skilled sentiments laced with gaslighting can make you doubt the red flags until the sting proves they were real all along. The scorpion’s nature doesn’t change because the frog wants connection. In relationships, red flags are warnings, not challenges to overcome.

We think we’re fighting about the chores, intimacy, or finances…but we’re often reacting to patterns we never fully understood or even knew we inherited.

Unresolved generational trauma doesn’t always speak loudly, sometimes, it just sits silently in the room…until it awakens.

Not every child who’s experienced trauma will have the tools to articulate their fear, confusion, or anger. “I’m scared.” Some throw things…some ramp up while others shut down. Many regress and struggle to trust or focus.

Trauma often shows up in behavior, and if we only punish it, we aren’t addressing the issue but can unknowingly exacerbate and cement lifelong struggles.

Play therapy gives children a safe way to process pain, rebuild trust, and grow, with or without needing all the words.

It’s easy to ask about someone’s favorite food or show… but what happens when we ask why they’ve been feeling off, or about a memory from childhood that affects them today?

The deeper the question, the stronger the connection.
