What a lovely time we had this weekend celebrating Ashley’s (aka Dr Baker) retirement. Ashley has served the Jackson community as a pharmacist for almost 60 years. While we feel an extreme loss with his retirement. He will ALWAYS be part of Bakers Family Pharmacy. We are committed to continuing his legacy of care for the community. Not January, now! We think of January as being the time of new beginnings because of a new year but September is the real beginning of change for many things. Trees begin their process of transformation into their winter slumber, kids start to school with an array of excitement over friends, new adventures and fresh array of school supplies. And studies show in fall we also when we experience our greatest weight gain. Why not January? The bitter cold and dark days of Winter are hard to overcome when you're trying to find motivation. And the fall weight is just extra pounds to lose. So, not January, now!!

History of Bakers

Nestled downtown in the 100 year old Wilson Building, built originally as a livery stable, Bakers Drug Store was opened in 1932 by the Baker brothers, who operated the retail pharmacy for more than 40 years. Early in the 1970’s the decision was made to sell the business to Ashley Tanner. Ashley saw his hard work begin to bring the need for pharmacy help, whereby his brother David, working as a pharmacist in Memphis, made the move and worked alongside Ashley for nearly 40 years.

The long time reputation of this long standing pharmacy accompanied with the dedication to the profession and the hard work of the brothers, Bakers became a landmark in Jackson,Tn. After over 40 years, in 2012 the decision was made to close and let a national chain continue serving our patients. For the entire period of closure many,many requested the downtown location to reopen.

In 2017, a Lexington pharmacist and store owner, Sherry Middleton, saw fit to do just that. In late September Bakers Family Pharmacy was opened and old and new patients alike were welcomed to the location, that had filled their pharmacy needs for over 80 years.
