When was the last time life felt like it changed overnight for you?

Change often catches us off guard, and even the “small” changes can leave us feeling unsteady.
Christen Gates, P-LPC was reminded of this on her son’s first day of middle school when he came home upset about losing recess.

It sounds small, but it carried a big truth: we all need ways to stay grounded when familiar routines disappear. In this post, Christen shares how she helps clients stay present and emotionally safe during life transitions.

🧠 Ever wondered what actually happens in a therapy session?

Spoiler: It’s not always lying on a couch talking about your childhood. 😉

Therapy can look a lot of different ways — from creative, open-ended exploration to structured, goal-focused sessions. It all depends on YOU: your needs, your goals, and what feels most helpful for where you are.

One of the most powerful and practical approaches I offer is CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) — a tried-and-true method for tackling anxiety and depression. 💬

CBT isn’t about overcomplicating things. It’s about learning how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected — and how shifting your thoughts can create real change in how you feel and act.

✨ I (Jennifer) love CBT because:
• It gives clients tools — not just talk.
• It’s structured and easy to follow.
• It empowers you to understand your patterns and make lasting changes.

🌿 Ready to take action on your mental health?
I offer two targeted CBT programs designed to help you feel better and stay better:

1️⃣ 16-week CBT Program – One individual session per week
2️⃣ 8-week CBT Bootcamp – Two individual sessions per week for accelerated progress

🔑 Both programs include:
• A clear roadmap with weekly goals
• Education that demystifies the process
• Skills and resources to support long-term progress

If you’re someone who appreciates structure, wants to be an active participant in your healing, and is ready for real change — let’s talk. 💬

📞 You don’t have to do this alone. Call me, Jennifer Harris, to schedule! 601-362-7020

Struggling with overwhelming emotions as a Christian? You’re not alone. In John 3:30, we’re reminded to shift our focus to Christ—“He must increase, but I must decrease.” But what if your emotions feel too big to ignore? Many believers try to suppress or “fix” their feelings, thinking they’re a distraction from God. The truth? Emotions aren’t the problem—it’s how we handle them.

In this blog, Caty Coffey, MAMFTC, LPC explores how processing emotions in a healthy, God-honoring way can actually deepen your faith. Discover how one client moved from anger to grace, and how you, too, can break free from emotional overwhelm.

“How do I stop memories from my past flooding my thoughts and ruining my day?”

I get asked this question a lot by people who have experienced ‘trauma’ and by those who haven’t. It doesn’t seem to matter how successful they are in life or how much therapy they’ve done in the past—they still find themselves haunted by memories more than they would like.

It’s like the day is going well, life feels on track, and then that insidious thought creeps into the back of the mind demanding attention. No matter how hard you try, it just gets louder.

Many clients will consume any spare moment with tasks, tv shows in the background, or scrolling endlessly on social media to drown out the noise.

It’s disheartening when it feels like we’ve done everything we’ve been told to do by doctors and therapists, but we still don’t feel like ourselves. There’s this small hope that life could be better
than this, should be better than this, but we’re coming to the of our rope.

As a professional who experienced the same discouragement with other methods of therapy, I began seeking information that went deeper towards the root of the problem. I discovered
Somatic Experiencing™.

If you struggle with feeling the past is intruding too much on the present, Somatic Experiencing™ may be for you. It’s a unique approach to therapy that incorporates the mind and body. Head on over to my recent blog post if you’d like to learn more about SE™ and what it could do for you. - Michelle Buckner, LPC
