Wild Okie started as a hobby fermenting for a couple of friends and experimenting with a variety of herbs and spices. Amongst friends, our experiments became big hits! These big hits have now evolved into our flagship commercial line of high-quality, healthy local products we guarantee you'll enjoy. It is our founding mission to curate products that bring sensations to your palate in concert with comfort to your body.

With the launch of our crowdfunding campaign, Wild Okie needs your support to kick off our unique brand of locally rooted, natural Ferments, Cordials, and more. Our hope is to grow throughout Mississippi and across the nation to become an everyday brand in the heart of the community. Your support will allow us to
• Expand into a commercial kitchen
• Hire employees
• Grow our distribution process
• Get on the shelves of your local grocer and restaurants

This weekend was a quite busy one for us! We were able to host our 1st Urban Gardening and Urban Foraging class! Huge thanks to Myles Ray for coming into town to co-host and teach! There was so much valuable knowledge that was shared from the hosts and the attendees too. It's always a joy gathering community and neighbors to exchange skills and knowledge that makes life more sustainable.

We appreciate all of the attendees for participating and donating!

We also were surprised by Matt Casteel of wurmworks and he taught a quick course on !

We also want to add one plug in honor of all of our loved ones in the Transgender community. During this we want to acknowledge and know that we see you! Thank you for being persistent in being your most authentic and true self.

The work has only begun! Anyone that is interested in engaging and support more community gardens like the continuing Fondren Park Garden contact us. We will continue this work in the Park and gathering community in it.

Agriculture must play a key role in helping to bring climate change policy solutions to fruition —and regenerative agriculture can help achieve that.

"Communities of color have long struggled to access fresh and unprocessed food, and minority workers make up a disproportionate percentage of the food industry, often working for low wages and without medical benefits. All the while, traditional cuisines, such as soul food, have taken the blame for the health problems African Americans face—a critique that overlooks how obesity and Type 2 diabetes weren’t widespread in the Black community until after makers of processed and fast foods established a foothold in minority neighborhoods in the late 20th century. Moreover, stress from racial discrimination and other sources has been tied to heart disease, hypertension, and obesity."

Food apartheid and economic inequality are among the factors leading to high rates of infections and deaths of Black and brown Americans.
