When Tammie Watkins, 60 year old resident here at Breathitt Health and Rehab, first came to us, she was deconditioned and relied heavily on CNA assistance for her daily needs. Simple tasks felt overwhelming, and she needed steady support throughout the day.
With encouragement and guidance from our Interdisciplinary Team- nursing, therapy, activities, and support staff- Tammie began rebuilding her strength and confidence step by step.
Tammie is now engaging in purposeful activities, participating in her daily routine, and performing much of her own self-care. What once required full assistance has transformed into renewed independence and pride.
Her journey is a powerful reminder that with teamwork, dedication, and the right support, progress is always possible.
We are proud of Tammie and honored to be part of her continued growth!

When I got old I reached retirement age. I built a cabin in my granddaughters yard on Mudd Creek. Hoping to live in peace. To shy away from controversial activities. When we got unable to live on our own, I researched Nursing Homes, and decided Breathitt County was the best fit for our situation. Our room is our home indefinitely. Things are not perfect, but better than stories I hear about other places. We plan on living here until we become fertilizer for the daisies. I appreciate all the kindness I’ve been shown since I have been here.

In a time of grief, it pays to spread a little kindness and love. Beckey recently lost her husband of 58 years. Fred, our maintenance director made her a shadow box to contain the quilt that was over her beloved husband as he passed on to the lord. In memory of Charles and the love of Beckey. Thank you Fred for such a blessed gift.
