🔥 OPEN BURNING REMINDER – CITY OF JACKSON 🔥
As the weather warms up, the Jackson Fire Department would like to remind residents about the local Open Burning Ordinance and the importance of safe burning practices.
🚫 Open burning within the city limits is regulated to protect public safety, air quality, and neighboring properties. Most outdoor burning such as burning leaves, brush, or household waste is not permitted.
✅ Recreational fires (fire pits) are generally allowed when they meet the following guidelines:
-- Must be for recreational purposes only
-- Burn only clean, dry firewood
-- Must be contained in an approved fire pit or device
-- Located a safe distance from structures and combustible materials (25 feet from structures and 15 feet from property lines)
-- Must be constantly attended with a water source, extinguisher within 15 feet
-- Between the hours of 9:00 AM and 11:00 PM
❌ Burning of trash, construction debris, leaves, or yard waste is prohibited.
⚠️ Violations of the ordinance may result in fines and potential fire department response fees.
Our goal is to keep everyone safe while allowing residents to responsibly enjoy outdoor fires.
If you have questions about what is allowed, please contact the Jackson Fire Department or review the full ordinance on the City’s website.
The City of Jackson Fire Department has a strict mandate regarding outdoor burning.
