School’s Back… and So Are These Surprising Injuries 🎒
Back-to-school season in Jackson, TN means new notebooks, fresh pencils, and… some surprisingly strange injuries showing up at 45 Urgent Care. Every year, we see kids (and sometimes teachers!) for mishaps you’d never expect.
One of the most common? Backpack strain. Heavy books and laptops can cause shoulder and back pain — especially when the straps aren’t adjusted properly. To prevent this, make sure your child’s backpack weighs no more than 10–15% of their body weight and both straps are used.
Then there’s the “recess collision.” Whether it’s a game of tag or a friendly soccer match, we treat plenty of bumps, sprains, and even minor fractures from playground fun. Encourage your child to wear supportive shoes and warm up before sports to help avoid injury.
We also see a surprising number of locker-related mishaps — fingers caught in doors, bumps from toppling binders, and the occasional twisted ankle from rushing to class. Remind kids to take their time and keep walkways clear.
Of course, accidents happen — and when they do, 45 Urgent Care in Jackson is here for fast, walk-in treatment. We can handle sprains, cuts, minor fractures, and more, so your child can get back to learning (and playing) as quickly as possible.
This school year, keep safety in mind — and know that if the unexpected happens, you’ve got a hometown team ready to help.
