The Summit/Jackson USAR team and crews trained on a structural collapse scenario today.

Equipment and lumber was utilized from Heavy Rescue 17, engines, and the USAR trailer. Crews shored walls, stabilized collapsed floors, and removed patients through difficult means of entry and exit.

We would like to thank the City for allowing our departments to train on this building.

At approximately 3:50 PM,
Summit, Jackson, Blackman/Leoni, Napoleon, and Liberty fire were dispatched for a possible first alarm structure fire in Vandercook.
Jackson Engine 2 arrived on scene to find heavy smoke showing from the structure and stretched a line for fire attack. Summit Engine 19 arrived almost simultaneously with Engine 2 and assisted with fire attack.
The fire is currently under investigation.

Ice rescue Technician Class

Yesterday Lt. Rayburn of Summit Fire taught an Ice Rescue Technican course hosted at Summit Fire Department. Firefighters from multiple agencies from around Michigan attended this day long course learning different Ice Rescue techniques, tools, and scenarios.

Tonight was a big night for Summit Township! Fire Fighter Ross Emerson was promoted to Lieutenant, and the Board of Trustees voted to hire Fire Fighter Brady Pickens.
