At approximately 6:00 a.m., Jackson Engine 1 and Summit Engine 41 responded to a First Alarm Structure Fire in Blackman/Leoni Township on Derbyshire Street. Upon arrival, a Blackman Public Safety road unit reported a fully involved structure.
Jackson Engine 1 established a water supply by securing a nearby hydrant and laid a supply line into Blackman Ladder 1. Crews from Jackson and Summit worked jointly on fire attack and assisted with overhaul operations.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

This morning around 8:30 units were dispatched to Thayer Marine for a structure fire. Upon arrival it was upgraded to a 4th alarm structure fire for additional man power and water supply.

The bulk of the fire has been knocked down and crews continue to extinguish hot spots.

The fire is still under investigation. Summit FireHawk1 (drone) assisted in the investigation and finding hotspots.

Our new drone will help aid in many different rescue scenarios and we are excited to begin training with it.

Summit and City fire departments have been growing our new drone programs certifying members of each department following the FAA drone rules and regulations. Please reach out with any questions!

This afternoon Summit Engine 19 showcased our gear and capabilities to the Henry Ford Healthcare camp, as well as assisted in setting up the landing site for Life flight.

Students in camp toured Engine 19 and were able to see all medical and firefighting tools. Aftwerwhich they were able to tour the Life flight.

Thank you to the Jackson Area Career Center for inviting us out.

Summit/Jackson fire departments C shift trained on vehicle extrication this morning.

By training on previously wrecked vehicles our firefighters are able to enhance their techniques and skills for future incidents.
