Some nights, getting out the door feels like it takes everything you have.

We feel you. And we still want you to come anyway. đź’š

The Village Collective gathers Tuesday, March 25th from 5–7 p.m. at
Jackson FirstUnited Methodist Church (Downtown) Jackson First UMC

A free meal. Space for kids to move (or not move). Adults who get it. No performance required from anyone.

If you come late, welcome. If you need to leave early, totally fine. If your kid melts down, you're still in the right place.

This community exists because none of us should have to do this alone.

🎵 Have you ever thought "My child has to be musical for music therapy to work"?

This is a common myth! Who we actually see benefitting:

Children who've never touched an instrument. Adults who say they "can't sing." Elders who haven't sang their favorite song in decades.

Music therapy doesn't require talent, pitch, or prior experience. It only requires that you're human. Because music was made for all of us.

The goal isn't performance. It's connection, regulation, communication, and healing.

That's what our board-certified music therapists do; meet people where they are and use music to help them get where they want to go.

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month đź’™

And we want to say something that doesn't always get said:

If your child, sibling, or loved one with a disability doesn't participate the way you expect, that is still participation.

Watching is participation. Stillness is participation. A small smile counts. A hand that reaches toward the drum counts. Being present in the room, feeling safe, that counts. In music therapy, we don't measure progress against a standard. We measure it against the person in front of us.

Our disability services include individual music therapy, recreational music lessons, and group therapy for children and adults. All led by board-certified music therapists.

March is Music Therapy Awareness Month 🎶 and we're spending it doing what we do best: helping families understand what music therapy actually is (and why it works).

Here's something that surprises most people:

Music is processed in more areas of the brain than spoken language.

That's why it reaches people when words don't. That's why a toddler who doesn't speak yet might hum along to a song. That's why a person with dementia lights up when they hear a familiar melody. That's why a teenager who won't open up in therapy will write songs for hours.

Music therapy is not music class. It is clinically informed, goal-directed work — led by board-certified therapists — that uses music as the tool for meaningful change.

All month, we'll be sharing more about what this looks like in real life.

Twenty years ago, our Founder Jaime had a vision: that music therapy should be available to every family, at every stage of life, regardless of income, diagnosis, or background.

That vision became Harmony Garden.

Today, on International Women's Day, we're celebrating our own women-led team that shows up every week for this community; board-certified music therapists who sit on the floor with toddlers, hold space for grieving families, and believe deeply in the power of music to heal.

To our clients, our volunteers, and our families, thank you for trusting us with what matters most. đź’–

We want to hear from YOU. đź’š

Music has a way of staying with us — a song that helped us through something hard, a class that changed how our child connected, a melody that reached a parent when nothing else could.

Drop in the comments:
What's one song that has really meant something to your family?
It can be a lullaby. A silly car ride song. A hymn. A pop song that always makes your kid laugh.

We LOVE these stories. And we have a feeling your answer is going to mean something to someone else reading this today.

Here's what parents are saying before they find us:

"I just want them to feel like they belong somewhere."
"I want one thing that's just… joyful."
"I want to stop worrying so much."

We don't feel like that is a lot to ask for. And it's exactly why we're here.

Spring classes start April 6th — and spaces are filling up. Whether your child is brand new to music or has been singing since before they could talk, there's a place for them here.

🌱 Sprouts (Birth–5) | $160 or $80/month | EcoSphere Scholarships available
🎶 Generations in Harmony (Intergenerational) | FREE | $10 enrollment
🎤 Singing for Speech (ages 2-6) | $160 or $80/month | EcoSphere Scholarships available

A note about the cost... if finances are the reason you’re hesitating, please reach out. We never want money to be the reason a family misses out on music.

If your teenager has gone quiet, it might be because they don't have the words to express themselves. You're not the only parent worrying about the silence.

Today is World Teen Mental Health Day, and we want to sugget that teens don't always need more talking. Sometimes they need a different language altogether.
Music becomes that language.

It opens doors that words can't, and it meets teens exactly where they are — without pressure, without performance, without having to explain themselves first.
If your teen is struggling and you're not sure what to try next, we'd love to talk with you.
