❄️🏔️ Supporting Teton Adaptive Ski Instructors! 🎿

A few of our OT, PT, and SLP therapists recently worked with Teton Adaptive to share strategies for supporting skiers’ communication, sensory, and motor needs. They also focused on injury prevention for instructors, including proper lifting mechanics to stay strong and safe. 💪

It was a valuable opportunity to collaborate and help improve the experience for both adaptive athletes and their instructors! 🏅

Per Buckrail:
“Trained volunteers from Brain Base (formerly known as Watershed Jackson Hole), will be available in TCL’s Ordway Auditorium from 1 to 4 p.m. on Nov. 8 conducting baseline concussion screening tests. The tests are free, but online registration is required. A library card is not necessary to obtain a screening.

A baseline test does not diagnose a concussion, but instead measures and describes an individual’s pre-injury brain performance and health. This includes cognitive, physical, sleep and emotional functioning. According to the library’s event description, the best concussion management strategy is for youth athletes to receive a baseline screening prior to each sport season, and for adults to receive one every two years.”

The best way to manage an emergency is to plan for it!

In our outpatient and inpatient settings, our team prioritizes knowing how to respond and respond quickly to different emergencies that may arise.

Kelly Dobbs, Clinical Manager RN did a training with our team on the various components of a crash cart along with how to use the LUCAS - a chest compression device.

Having this knowledge and skill set allows us to serve our patients all the better!
