MSDH Chief Medical Officer Dr. Justin Turner reminds Jackson residents that only boiled water is safe to use when you take medications, or if you prepare your medications using water. Jackson water is at risk for contamination. For safety, disinfect water by bringing it to a rolling boil for at least a minute. Water is then safe. New COVID-19 cases are being reported to MSDH at a high rate, continuing the upward trend of the past few weeks. It’s important to know the level of COVID-19 activity in your community and the appropriate safety measures to take.

You can check your county’s current safety recommendations at https://msdh.ms.gov/countycheck.

• More than 30 Mississippi counties are currently designated as having High community levels of COVID-19.

• Residents in counties with high COVID-19 activity should wear masks in public places, especially if they are at high risk for more serious illness from COVID-19.

• All Mississippians should stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and boosters. If you have symptoms of COVID-19, get tested. Vaccinations are widely available for both adults and children as young as six months old.
