We are incredibly proud to see Dr. Duggar recognized for this important work. As our Chief of Physics, he consistently leads with innovation, curiosity, and a deep commitment to advancing patient care. His ability to push the field forward while supporting and uplifting those around him truly sets him apart. Congratulations to Dr. Duggar and the entire team on this impactful publication.

Dr. Neil Duggar of UMMC was part of a research team that recently published findings showing how artificial intelligence can improve tumor detection in head and neck cancer.

The team demonstrated that refining how deep learning models are trained can significantly enhance tumor segmentation on CT and PET scans.

Published in Computers in Biology and Medicine, the study highlights how teamwork across institutions is advancing more precise, personalized cancer treatment.

We’re proud of Dr. Duggar and his colleagues for helping lead the way. 💙

A major milestone for UMMC and the state of Mississippi! The future of cancer care in our state is brighter than ever. Immensely grateful for this!!

We are incredibly grateful for the strong support of our state elected officials as we move forward in building a world-class cancer center here in Mississippi. State lawmakers have appropriated $100 million to this effort, and yesterday it was signed into law by Gov. Tate Reeves.
In addition to our state leaders, federal elected officials and the many thoughtful donors to the campaign join us in our feeling that “It’s About Time” that Mississippi builds an NCI-Designated Cancer Center that allows patients to be able to get life-saving care and access to transformational clinical trials right here in our state. The care and research that will be done in the new facility will have an impact on patient outcomes for generations.
