✨ June Birth Recap ✨
A slower month with 5 sweet babies earthside — 3 boys and 2 girls 💙💖
Our smallest was 6 lbs 9 oz and the biggest was 8 lbs 11 oz!

While June was a quieter wave, we know the rhythm of birth ebbs and flows — and we’re so grateful for the time to serve each family with presence and care. 💫 Whether the month is full or gentle, each story matters deeply.

✂️🔥 Cord Cutting vs. Cord Burning: What’s the Difference?

After baby is born, the umbilical cord must be separated—but how that’s done can carry symbolic, cultural, and practical meaning.

🔹 Cord Cutting is the most common method—quick, simple, and done with sterile scissors or clamps, often within the first few minutes after birth.

🔸 Cord Burning, on the other hand, is a slower, ceremonial option. Using a candle or flame-safe device, the cord is gently burned to separate baby from the placenta. This method can:
✨ Reduce infection risk (no sharp tools!)
✨ Create a calm, sacred moment
✨ Smell a little… smoky—but powerful 💛

Some families choose burning to honor birth as a rite of passage. Others prefer cutting for its ease.

There’s no right or wrong—just what feels aligned for your journey. 🌿

Have you witnessed or experienced cord burning? Would you consider it? Tell me below! 👇

Midwife Virginia and Birth Assistant Courtney supporting baby still attached to the placenta — a powerful and intentional part of physiological birth. 🌿

At , we often leave baby connected to the placenta for an hour or more. Why?

✨ Because the placenta is still working. Even after birth, it continues to deliver oxygen-rich, stem cell-filled blood that helps baby transition gently from womb to world.
✨ It allows for optimal blood volume, improving baby’s circulation, breathing, and organ function.
✨ It supports bonding and keeps baby connected to the rhythm they’ve known for months.
✨ There’s no rush — only reverence.

This is what trusting birth looks like.

✨A N T H O N Y✨ After a cozy 40+ weeks, labor gently began in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Surrounded by family, support, laughter, snacks, hair braiding, and even a little Taylor Swift, contractions slowly intensified.

By sunrise, Anthony’s birth space was full of love: his parents, grandparents, aunts, big cousin, doula, photographer and birth team.

With strength, surrender, and so much support, his mama met each wave — finally sinking into warm water just before 1pm. With one mighty push, her water broke and Anthony entered the world SECONDS later, caught by loving hands and welcomed by joyful tears.

He was calm, strong, and snuggled in mama’s arms as we all exhaled with awe. Your midwives love you baby Anthony 💙

🤍 The quiet power of sisterhood.
In the sacred waters of birth, midwife and mother move as one—connected by trust, intuition, and unwavering presence.
A squeeze of the hand, a steady voice, a calm breath in the chaos.
This is more than care. This is devotion.

M A G N O L I A ✨

This second time mama notified us that her water had spontaneously broken one morning & contractions followed shortly after. When we arrived we found her laboring with the support of her husband and doula in the shower. She told us she could feel the baby’s head coming already & we helped her get into the birth tub. She faced the huge challenge of surrendering to the intensity of a quick labor & soon her baby girl emerged into the hands of her father. This birth was so heartfelt & tender - a privilege to witness. Your midwives love you baby Magnolia!

✨C L A I R E✨
After a long and challenging first labor, this mama was hoping for a redemptive second birth, and this time her wish came true. Early labor started off slowly and peacefully, giving everyone time to prepare and a gentle sign that active labor was near. Once things picked up, they moved quickly, and her hope for a faster birth was fulfilled in a big way. By the time midwife Mandi walked through the door, this little one’s head was already starting to crown. With her husband, midwife, and doula by her side, she powerfully brought her baby into the world with one incredible push into the water and lifted her straight to her chest. Just moments later, the new big sister—who had been peacefully napping in the next room—was gently woken by her dad to meet the newest member of their family. The postpartum hours were spent cozied up in bed, soaking in the joy of their home birth dream becoming a beautiful reality.

✨ Side-Lying Release ✨
This gentle technique, developed by Spinning Babies®, helps balance the pelvis, soften tight ligaments, and encourage optimal fetal positioning — all without invasive movement.

Perfect for a natural homebirth setting, the side-lying release uses gravity and stillness to create space in the pelvis. Just 3–10 minutes per side can support baby in finding their best position for birth, potentially easing labor progress and intensity.

💫 Use during pregnancy to prepare the body
💫 Use during labor to help with stalls, irregular contractions, or a baby that’s not quite in the ideal spot

Always done with a helper for safety + stability.
Sacred. Simple. Powerful. 🌿

✨A Z A L E A✨ After a restful night of sleep, she was joined that morning by her midwives and doula, who supported her with quiet strength as her labor gently continued, her waters having released the day before. As the hours passed, the waves of labor grew stronger, and she met each one with grace, surrounded by the steady presence of her husband and birth team. Later in the evening, a few changes in her journey led us to transition to the hospital. There, the nurses and doctor welcomed us with calm patience and kindness, caring for both mama and baby as they labored together through the night. By the following afternoon, after just a few powerful pushes, baby Azalea entered the world- happy, healthy, and cradled in the joy of her overjoyed first-time parents.
