has over 22 years of expertise in general and minimally invasive GI surgery. He got his M.B.Ch.B. from Al Mustansiriya University College of Medicine in Baghdad, Iraq in 1997, and his Fellowship from the Arab Scientific Council for Medical Specialisations (Arab Board of General Surgery) in 2006.

From 2006 until 2009, he worked as a teacher at Al Mustansiriya College of Medicine in Baghdad, Al Mustansiriyah University Iraq.

Dr. Mohanad is the Dean and Founder of the Robotic Surgery Academy in Dubai, UAE, which conducts research in robotic surgery, telesurgery, and virtual reality surgery.

He specialises in general, minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery, and robotic surgical oncology

He is also the founder and director of the Robotic Surgery Centre, Al Zaitoun specialized Hospital, Baghdad, Iraq.

He pioneered numerous groundbreaking procedures, as stated below:

The first robotic telesurgery and tele-mentoring (Robotic cholecystectomy Da Vinci Si Robot) between Dubai and Athens took place in April 2010 at Hamdan Bin Mohammad Smart University’s E Conference.

In July 2020, the first virtual reality-guided tele surgery (minimally invasive gastric sleeve) took place between Dubai and Tokyo.

The first robotic surgery (Robotic Cholecystectomy) took place in January 2021 at the Robotic Surgery Centre in Baghdad, Iraq.

The first nipple-sparing robotic mastectomy took place in March 2021 at the Robotic Surgery Centre in Baghdad, Iraq.
