Mental health clinicians, stop sending it to the P*P. 🛑
You are often the most qualified professional to address your clients’ leave needs. Therapists are often asked to complete FMLA or Short-Term Disability paperwork… but rarely taught ‘how’ to do it well. This workshop changes that.
📅 Friday May 8th | 12–2 PM EST
This workshop provides mental health professionals with a clear, practical understanding of how to ethically and effectively support clients seeking Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Short-Term Disability (STD) related to mental health conditions. Participants will learn how to assess clinical severity, functional impairment, and treatment needs to determine when intermittent or continuous leave may be clinically appropriate.
Drawing on the presenter’s background as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with Human Resources expertise, this course demystifies medical leave documentation, clarifies the therapist’s role in the process, and addresses common pitfalls that delay or jeopardize approvals. Through clinical examples and documentation guidance, therapists will gain confidence completing forms within scope of practice and collaborating appropriately with employers and third-party administrators.
Participants will leave this workshop with a strong understanding of FMLA/STD during mental health treatment, clinical language, and ethical guardrails to support clients’ medical leave needs, reducing confusion and helping clients maintain economic stability while managing their mental health condition.
