Today is Melanoma Monday, and we’re using it as a reminder that a simple skin check can truly save a life. 🎗️

Melanoma is the most aggressive form of skin cancer, and because it has the potential to spread, catching it early is our number one priority. While it starts in the pigment-producing cells of your skin, it doesn’t always look the same on everyone—which is why knowing what to look for is so vital.

When you’re doing your own checks at home, remember the ABCDEs:

• Asymmetry: Does one half look different than the other?
• Border: Look for edges that are irregular, notched, or blurred.
• Color: Keep an eye out for patches of uneven color or multiple shades.
• Diameter: Is the spot larger than 6mm (the size of a pencil eraser)?
• Evolving: Is it changing, itching, or bleeding?

Since it’s Skin Cancer Awareness Month, we’re sharing the “non-negotiables” for keeping your skin safe while enjoying that Florida sunshine. If you want to keep your skin healthy and youthful, here is your checklist:

• The 2-Hour Rule: Reapply your SPF every two hours (more if you’re swimming!).
• Check the Hidden Spots: Don’t forget your neck, feet, and the backs of your hands.
• Break Up with Tanning Beds: There is no such thing as a “safe” artificial tan.
• The “Even If It’s Cloudy” Rule: UV rays don’t care about cloud cover—wear the SPF anyway.
• Suit Up: Grab those wide-brimmed hats, sunnies, and UPF clothing.
• Seek Shade: Try to stay under cover when the UV index is at its peak.
