For anyone who hasn't watched the netflix series 'Adolescence' , I'd highly recommend it.

It's a powerful, gripping, and eye-opening series. As a parent, all you want is for your child to be happy and content with life. We do our best to rear them with morals and empathy and to be happy. Unfortunately, as this raw and educational masterpiece highlights, bringing your child up in today's society in a world of social media and pressure is very difficult.

I'd definitely advocate for this series to be shown in all secondary schools across the country.

The last episode will hit all parents hard.

Fair play to all involved in the series. Powerful.

Understanding the differences between an IEP and a 504 can help you make the right decision for your child. Because many parents go into an IEP eligibility meeting and are offered 504s instead.

How to talk with someone with PDA:

Be respectful: Avoid using words like "need", "now", "must", and "urgently".

Be calm: Don't take it personally.

Be flexible: Be ready to scale back demands or change your approach if the person starts to panic.

Be indirect: Find ways to "ask without asking". For example, instead of saying "You need to get dressed now", you could say "The clothes are on the bed, I'm happy to help" and then walk away.

Use declarative language: Use statements, comments, or observations.

Rephrase: Try talking about an object rather than a person.

Start requests with "please": This can make a big difference.

Make the person feel useful: Use words like "us", "we", "let's", and "together".

Show appreciation: Thank the person for doing something difficult or helpful.

Give indirect praise: Some people with PDA crave positive attention and recognition, but don't like receiving compliments or praise
