We are beaming with pride today as was one of just 12 hospitals nationwide to earn an “A” grade for safety from The Leapfrog Group for the 15th consecutive time! 🏆 🩺

“Earning a 15th ‘A’ grade reflects the discipline, accountability and teamwork our clinicians bring to patient safety every day,” says Jarret Dreicer, FACHE, MHA, MS, hospital president of Baptist Beaches. “Our community has a choice in where they receive care, and we are proud to earn their trust consistently.”

This milestone reaffirms our mission to be the trusted leader in providing safe, reliable health care to Northeast Florida’s coastal communities.

“Every patient deserves safe, high-quality care,” says Jeremy Goodman, MD, MBA, FACHE, senior vice president and system quality officer at Baptist Health. “We remain focused on continuously improving and strengthening safety across every step of the patient journey.”

Congratulations to everyone on our team who works so hard to keep our patients safe. Thanks for making us ! 💙

We are that our team at Baptist Health Jacksonville was the first in the country to take part in the groundbreaking REMIND Alzheimer's study!

Our health system’s participation in this first-of-its-kind surgical trial reflects our commitment to research and innovation, especially for the Northeast Florida community.

We are to be the first health system in the country to take part in the groundbreaking REMIND Alzheimer's study!

The health system’s participation in the first-of-its-kind surgical trial reflects its commitment to research and innovation.

This is the first study to use a robotic-enabled microsurgical system to treat Alzheimer’s. The surgical platform received approval for soft tissue manipulation to perform microsurgery from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2024. The study received FDA approval under an Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) in late 2025.

“This robotic surgical procedure may reshape the way we approach neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s,” said neurosurgeon Ricardo Hanel, MD, PhD, the co-medical director of the Baptist Stroke & Cerebrovascular Center and principal investigator of the study at Baptist Health. “It’s exciting to be part of this landmark study and potentially offer hope to patients and families living with this condition.”

An estimated 7.2 million Americans aged 65 and older, or around 1 in 9, have Alzheimer’s disease. It is the most common form of dementia, affecting memory, thinking and behavior. Florida has one of the highest rates in the country, with 12.5% of its residents in the 65 and older age bracket living with the neurological condition.

“We’ve seen the impact this innovative technology can have in breast reconstructive and lymphatic surgery, and I’m proud to be involved in pioneering its use in a whole new area, which could open the door to more possibilities for patients with Alzheimer’s disease,” said Michael DeFazio, MD, a plastic and reconstructive surgeon with Florida Plastic Surgery Group who performed the procedure with Dr. Hanel at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville.

Nurses are some of the most important people in any hospital, so we thought we'd surprise them by preparing the most important meal of the day this morning for ! 🥓

Our nurses are the heartbeat of our hospital, and they embody what it means to be a health care hero. We've got some of the best you'll find at , and making them breakfast is but one in a series of small gestures to express our endless gratitude! 💙

is here, and there's no better way to celebrate than by letting our team speak for themselves. 💙 These are the people who bring both the skill and the soul to patient care — and we couldn't be prouder of them! Today, get to know Ashleigh, an Assistant Nurse Manager in the Emergency Department (ED).

Q: Why did you decide to become a nurse?
A: Growing up with an ICU nurse for a mom and a nurse manager for a stepdad, I was hesitant to follow my passion for science and nursing because of how interesting the dinner table conversations were. After having my sons, I gained a deeper sense of purpose leading me toward nursing, where I could be there for people during some of their most vulnerable moments. Working in the ED, I get to combine compassion, critical thinking and advocacy; and I try to show up for every patient the way I'd want someone to show up for my kids and loved ones - with patience, respect and genuine care.

Q: What has your career journey at Baptist been like?
A: My career with Baptist has been filled with professional growth. I started out as a CNA on the Surgical Treatment Unit in 2018, quickly transferring to the ED as a tech when my manager learned it was my goal to work in the emergency room. I worked nights during nursing school, graduating in 2023 and recently became an Assistant Nurse Manager in 2026. I am living my dream job and growing professionally and personally, thanks to the opportunities Baptist has given me, and I am forever grateful.

Q: Can you recall a specific patient or team interaction that made you proud to be in the nursing field?
A: I am privileged to work with an amazing team that makes me proud to be a nurse on a daily basis. Every code we work on, every critical patient we collaborate on, reinforces that patient care is a team effort. It is hard to pinpoint a specific event that stands out when we have the support and teamwork that we do consistently. However, one moment highlighting this collaboration would be when a patient arrived in labor and had to deliver the baby in the emergency room. I have never felt more out of my element, but my team (including my manager and ANM) was at the bedside within seconds to assist (followed closely by our Labor & Delivery team), and I have never felt prouder to be a nurse and to be a part of this team.

Q: Why do you like working at Baptist Health?
A: Baptist fosters a culture of growth and collaboration that I didn’t know existed in health care. Baptist encourages open communication where concerns are addressed to help produce the best outcome for our patients. Everyone involved in patient care has the ability to voice ideas on better processes, and these ideas are celebrated. Baptist is unique in that way, and I feel lucky to work in such an environment.

Q: What would you tell someone who is considering entering the nursing field?
A: Being a nurse has been the most challenging and fulfilling career I have ever had. It has made me think and grow in ways I did not foresee, and I am forever grateful for how it has shaped who I am today. If someone were entertaining the idea of nursing school, I would tell them that other than my two children, it is my proudest accomplishment.

Q: If you weren’t a nurse, what would you do for a living?
A: If I were not a nurse, I would love to work at Universal Studios, designing houses for Halloween Horror Nights. I love the attention to detail, down to the smell, from both Universal and Disney, that transports you into another world. It has always fascinated me and helping make that happen would be amazing. Or, I'd be a professional traveler and post about all the amazing places and my experiences around the world. Normal stuff. 😊

We appreciate our leadership team every day… but give us a chance to soak them for a good cause, and we’re taking it. 💧🔫

As part of a “Soak or Save” fundraiser supporting United Way of Northeast Florida, our team showed up ready to give back — and leadership was ready to take one for the team. Thanks to everyone who participated, we raised over $1,000 to support our community!

**No leadership team members were harmed in the process of this soaking, but they definitely needed a change of clothes! 💧

Occupational therapy is about more than recovery - it's about helping people live life as fully and independently as possible. 💪

During Occupational Therapy Month, we recognize the highly skilled therapists who help patients regain the ability to perform everyday activities after injury, illness or developmental challenges. This can include improving strength and coordination, adapting environments, introducing assistive tools or teaching new ways to complete daily tasks.

Whether it's helping a patient return to work, guiding someone through life after a major health event, occupational therapists play a critical role in every stage of care. ❤️ ✨
