VULNERABLE, LONG STORY ALERT...
A few years ago I was struggling with what I thought was a lot of "random" health issues.

➡️rapid weight gain
➡️extreme fatigue
➡️NO motivation
➡️bad anxiety
➡️mood swings(ask the hubs😬)
➡️night sweats

My doctor told me my labs were normal and that I was just another busy working mom that needed more rest. After months of struggling, a friend recommended I see a functional medicine practitioner because they take a more holistic whole person approach to find the root cause vs symptom/disease management focused. Best suggestion ever! Additional labs were run which showed my hormones were off and I was missing some key nutrients.

I was relieved to know the root cause because I seriously thought I was losing it. I began researching hormones and stumbled upon the Institute Of Integrative Nutrition (IIN). IIN is an online Health Coach Training Program that covers a variety of subjects in nutrition, nutrition science, lifestyle, and functional medicine.

I decided to enroll so I could take an active role in MY OWN health journey.

One year later I am certified as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach with an advanced certification in Hormone Health. This past year has been full of personal growth which includes acceptance of myself and decreasing the negative self talk. I've learned how to maximize my nutrition and address areas of my life that I have ignored. I am thankful for this opportunity to grow and share what I have learned.

Sometimes the day doesn't go as planned and can quickly spin out of control.
GOOD NEWS
You can take back your day at any point with even 5 minutes. Find something that works for you; meditation(work in progress for me), breathe work, stretching, really anything that helps you to be settled and allows your brain to refocus.
Any amount of time spent taking care of yourself is $$$ in the bank.

I can’t tell you how many patients I have seen who seem to be doing everything right such as eating the right foods, taking the right supplements, and moving, yet, they can’t seem to get better. ⁣⁣

As a college student, I became passionate about meditation and Buddhism, and I used what I learned to deepen my connection to myself and strengthen my spirit. And then I entered medical school and residency, and real life got in the way, and I let go of the daily practices that kept me grounded.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I became very sick, and not just physically; I became spiritually bankrupt too. ⁣
⁣⁣
Chances are the same thing has happened to you at one time or another. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The good news is that there are simple ways to get back in touch with your authentic self, that childlike part of you, that spark:⁣⁣
⁣⁣
1) Take time every day to check in with yourself. How are you feeling? Are you spending time doing things you want to do, or things you feel obligated to do? Do you feel fulfilled? This seemingly basic step is vital for identifying what brings you joy, where your passions lie, and how you can get more of them in your life. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
2) Journaling is a great way to talk to yourself on paper, it allows you to have an uninhibited discussion with yourself, oftentimes leading to an “aha” moment that was hiding under the surface all along. Studies have shown that journaling focused on gratitude can even reduce inflammation and improve mental wellbeing.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
3) It’s completely okay to realize your current path is not making you happy and change directions—give yourself permission! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
4) Clear the clutter. A more organized and simplified space will help you focus on more meaningful and non-material aspects of life, helping your spirit shine brighter. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
5) Meditate. This has been an essential step in rekindling my spirit and regaining the spiritual vitality that I had, at one point, lost.

Health Coaches are needed now more than ever! Our health care system is focused on disease management versus prevention. Patients come in and want a quick fix for their symptoms and most doctors don't have time to do a deep dive into the root cause.
Remember, when symptoms appear it's your body trying to tell you something. Listen and give yourself what you need.
