If you are suffering with hemorrhoids, please contact our office to schedule an appointment. Hemorrhoids are swollen and inflamed veins in the re**um and a**s that cause discomfort, bleeding, and are usually caused from straining during bowel movements, obesity, or pregnancy. Discomfort or pain is a symptom, especially during a bowel movement or when sitting for extended periods of time. Additional symptoms may include itching and bleeding. In certain cases, a medical procedure to remove or band the hemorrhoid may be needed to provide relief.

Colore**al cancer happens when cancer cells form in the tissues of the colon or the re**um, 2 parts of the body’s digestive system. These cancers can also be called colon cancers or re**al cancers, depending upon where they start. Colore**al cancer includes both colon and re**al cancer because they share many features. Colore**al cancer usually starts as a growth on the inside of the colon or the re**um. These growths are known as polyps. Over time, some of these polyps can turn into cancer. The risk of colore**al cancer increases after age 50. Most cases of colore**al cancer are diagnosed after age 50. Having a parent, brother, sister, or child with colore**al cancer doubles a person’s risk of colore**al cancer. African Americans have an increased risk of colore**al cancer and death from the disease compared to other races.

Dr. Chrzanowski is a fellowship trained colore**al surgeon with more than 16 years in practice. He specializes in benign and malignant diseases of the small bowel, colon, re**um and a**s. He performs diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy. He treats hemorrhoids, fissures, a**l fistulas, re**al prolapse and other benign anore**al disease, with and without surgery. He operates on malignant diseases of the small and large intestine as well as of the a**s and re**um. He also operates on benign conditions such as Crohn’s disease, polyps, diverticular disease, colonic motility disorders and ulcerative colitis. Most abdominal surgery is performed utilizing robotic surgery. Transa**l surgery to prevent the need for a stoma is also offered.

Dr. Gibson is a board certified Colon and Re**al Surgeon. He completed General Surgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio followed by Colon and Re**al Surgery fellowship at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. Dr. Gibson treats a broad spectrum of colon and re**al conditions such as hemorrhoids, a**l pain, pilonidal disease, f***l incontinence, re**al prolapse, diverticulitis, colon cancer and re**al cancer. He performs minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery including robotic procedures. Dr. Gibson also performs colonoscopies for screening and surveillance of colore**al cancer. He values excellent communication with his patients and outstanding patient care.

Outside of the hospital he enjoys outdoor activities including hiking along with spending time with his wife and twin girls.
