In Loving Memory of
James William Ringer Jr.
December 29, 1972 – March 24, 2026
James William Ringer Jr. was born on December 29, 1972, in Wilmington, North Carolina. He spent his early years in Charleston, South Carolina, where he attended Middleton High School and was voted Wittiest, he began shaping the vibrant personality and warm spirit that so many would come to love.
James built a successful career rooted in leadership, mentorship, and connection. He worked with BellSouth and Suncom before serving as a Regional Director of Training and Development for ADT, where he was known for his ability to inspire others, develop talent, and lead with both strength and compassion but always leaving them with laughter and a smile.
Outside of his professional life, James found joy in the things that made him smile the most. He was a devoted fan of the Miami Dolphins and admired former quarterback, Dan Marino, cheering on his team with unwavering loyalty. He was also a proud superfan of The Golden Girls, able to recall nearly every line and scene by heart, something that brought joy not only to him, but to everyone lucky enough to share in those moments.
James also had an incredible memory when it came to music and musical artists. He could recall songs, lyrics, and moments with ease, often turning any situation into one filled with music, laughter, and connection. Above all, James will be remembered for his heart.
Even during his battle with colon cancer, James never lost his spirit. No matter the pain he may have been facing, he continued to uplift those around him, always making every nurse, doctor, friend, and loved one feel seen, valued, and appreciated. He met each day with strength, humor, and often a joke or a laugh, leaving an impression on everyone he encountered.
He shared an enduring love with his husband, Gene Moore. Together for over ten plus years, their relationship was built on laughter, strength, and unconditional support. On March 21, 2026, they were married, fulfilling a promise of love that had already been lived out every single day. Their bond was one of true partnership, standing side by side through all of life’s moments.
James made his home in Jacksonville, Florida, where he created a life filled with love, friendship, and lasting memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James William Ringer Sr. and Mary Frances (Banks) Ringer. He is lovingly remembered by his sister, Angie Dobbins; his nephews Robbie Dobbins and Tradd Dobbins (Cassandra), along with their children Collins and Tradd Jr.; and his niece Alexa Deck (Adorian), along with their children Banks and Brooklyn. James also shared a special and meaningful bond with his stepdaughter, Whitney Moore Hodges, her husband Alan Hodges, and their children Emerson, Kennedy, and Anderson, who brought him great joy and pride.
James leaves behind a legacy of laughter, kindness, resilience, and love. He had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and valued, his presence would be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Though his time here feels far too short, the love he gave and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who love him.
