🤰💊 Acetaminophen AND Pregnancy – What’s the Real Risk of Autism?

🗞️ 📺 Headlines link acetaminophen (Tylenol) use during pregnancy with Autism and possibly other neurodevelopmental disorders like ADHD.🗞️ 📺

Here’s what the research ACTUALLY shows:

✨ Some studies found a correlation (when 2 things happen at the same time) with acetaminophen and autism, BUT correlation DOES NOT = Causation.

👩👧 A massive study of 2.5 million children found that when controlling for siblings (genetics + family factors), the link between acetaminophen and a later diagnosis of autism completely disappeared.

✅ This means moms who used acetaminophen were no more likely to have children with autism than those who didn’t.

👉 Why this matters:
Leaving fever untreated in pregnancy poses great risks for both mom and baby. That’s why acetaminophen, when used as recommended by a physician, remains an important and safe option.

💡 Bottom line: Moms shouldn’t be told "TOUGH IT OUT" and be scared away from using acetaminophen responsibly under their doctor’s care.

🫒 We went to an OLIVE OIL tasting and weren't sure how olive oil would taste!

🫒 We discovered that fresh, local olive oil is DELICIOUS! Smooth and buttery. There were several flavors and we each had our favorites.

The next time you and your family have the opportunity to taste something new, DO IT! You might be very surprised. Enjoy!

The hidden truth 📖✨

👶 Kids who are read to regularly enter school miles ahead of those who aren’t.

📖 Just 1 book a day = about 300,000 more words heard by age 5.

🚀 5 books a day = over 1.4 million extra words before kindergarten.

💡 Books introduce new, complex words kids may not hear in daily conversations. Reading stories builds empathy and new brain 🧠 connections! And it is a great way to bond with your children. 👨‍👩‍👦

❤️ Even short but consistent storytimes help kids build more robust vocabulary, faster reading skills, and lasting confidence.

Folinic Acid is a special form of folate that has a big possibility to help children with autism, since over 70%, have a Cerebral Folate Deficiency.

"Folinic" acid has its own receptor to into the brain and turn back into folate once it's there.
But high doses are needed, so you have to get the correct form and find the right dose for your child.

Prescription high-dose folate branded "Leucovorin" is the only option we have right now.

⭐️ Start Low and Go Slow ⭐️

Starting doses:
- 2-5 yrs - 2.5 mg
- 6-12 yrs - 5 mg
- 12 & up - 10 mg

Adjust for size if you child is much bigger or smaller that average for age.

We have a 20 yr old young man with autism in our practice who is doing better than ever on 50 mg a day of folinic (the max dose) - but we started at 10 mg a day and moved up slowly.

🚨 Is Your Rice Hiding a Secret? 🍚😱

Most families serve rice every week… but did you know it can contain arsenic — a toxin linked to long-term health risks? 🧪🚫

Arsenic — a natural element — can sneak into the rice we eat every day. While small amounts might not sound scary, long-term exposure can affect your health and your child’s development. 🧠💔

Here’s what you can do to keep your family safe:

✅ Choose rice types lower in arsenic (like basmati or jasmine) 🌾
✅ Rinsing rice 4–6 times before cooking can remove up to 30- 40% of arsenic.💦
✅ Use the “extra water” method when boiling 💧

🥗🌾 Rotate your grains! Quinoa, millet, and barley have much lower arsenic levels than rice.

✨ Bonus tip! Storing your cooked rice in the fridge 🥶 turns some of its starch into resistant starch 💪 — great for feeding your good gut bacteria 🦠 and helping to keep blood sugar steady 📉💖

Your kids deserve healthy, toxin-free meals 💛👨👩👧👦🥗 — let’s make every bite count!

There is arsenic in all the rice 🍚 that is sold in the US ~ both brown and white rice.

Along with cadmium and mercury, arsenic is a heavy metal that we do not need exposure to if we can help it. Arsenic can cause nausea, vomiting 🤮 and diarrhea when acutely ingested. Long term exposure can lead to an increased risk of bladder, lung 🫁and skin cancers ♋️.

In children, repeated exposures can lead to developmental impacts on the nervous system and brain 🧠along with skin issues like eczema.

So, what can you do to minimize the risk of arsenic exposure from rice? Rinse the rice well💦, cook with extra water and then cool and refrigerate. This will remove about 80% of the arsenic if not more. AND the bonus of refrigerating the rice creates a resistant starch which is good for your gut bacteria 🦠and stabilizing blood sugar.
