Recovery and progress aren’t always a straight line. Sometimes it’s two steps forward, one step back, and that’s okay. Healing takes time, consistency, and the right plan.

In physical therapy, even the smallest improvements - less stiffness, a little more strength, an extra degree of motion - are big wins that add up over time. Progress might feel slow in the moment, but your body is adapting, healing, and building resilience with every session.

Stay patient. Stay committed. And remember, our team is here to guide, encourage, and celebrate every milestone with you. 🙌

Sprain or Strain - What’s the Difference?

These two injuries are often confused, but knowing the difference can help you take the right steps toward recovery.

🦴 Sprain:

A sprain happens when you stretch or tear a ligament (the tough bands of tissue that connect bones together).

Commonly caused by twists, falls, or awkward movements.

Symptoms may include pain, swelling, bruising, and difficulty moving the joint.

Example: Rolling your ankle while hiking.

💪 Strain:

A strain happens when you stretch or tear a muscle or tendon (the cords that attach muscle to bone).

Often caused by overuse, lifting something too heavy, or sudden force.

Symptoms may include muscle pain, spasms, weakness, and swelling.

Example: Pulling a hamstring while sprinting.

💡 Why Physical Therapy Helps:
Whether it’s a sprain or a strain, PT focuses on reducing pain, restoring mobility, and rebuilding strength. We’ll guide you through the right exercises at the right time so you can safely get back to the activities you love.

At Atlas Physical Therapy, we believe in tracking your progress with the same precision we use to design your care. That’s where the MicroFET®2 comes in.

The MicroFET®2 is a handheld device that allows our therapists to accurately measure muscle strength, down to the smallest changes. Unlike a simple “push against my hand” test, this tool gives us objective, measurable data about how strong your muscles are and how well they’re functioning.

Why it matters:

🎯 Personalized treatment: We can identify exactly which muscles need strengthening.

📈 Track real progress: See measurable improvements session to session.

⏱ Faster recovery: Target weak points sooner for quicker results.

🔄 Better prevention: Catch strength imbalances before they lead to injury.

Because when it comes to your health, we believe every ounce of strength counts. 💪
