Alisha here, Bold Child Co.’s lead speech-language pathologist and mama of two littles 👋 Did you know that communication starts long before your little one says their first word? Here are some early milestones to watch for:

👶 **Eye Contact** – Your baby making eye contact is the first step in building connection and understanding.
👂 **Responding to Sounds** – Notice how they turn their head toward sounds? That’s their way of showing they’re listening and engaging.
💬 **Cooing & Babbling** – These adorable noises are more than just cute—they’re your baby’s way of experimenting with sounds.
👐 **Gestures** – Pointing, waving, or reaching show that your baby is learning to express their needs without words.

Keep an eye out for these early signs of communication! Every babble is a step toward their first “mama” or “dada.” 💖

Anyone else’s summer fly by? 👋 Alisha here, Bold Child Co.’s with some tips for helping your little one navigate the new school year with confidence! were originally created to support people with but can be used with children of all abilities! In we use social stories to help our little ones understand upcoming or new social situations - in this case back to school 🚌 Here are some ideas to help your child navigate the first day of school and new routines: 📚 talk about one topic or event (e.g., lunch in the cafeteria) per social story. 📚use drawings or pictures to help create a visual image for your child to understand what to expect from the environment. Talk about the size of the cafeteria, the bright lights, loud noises, smells and other sensory input they may expect. 📚pair with a visual schedule of the steps they will take (e.g., line up, go through the lunch line, sit down and eat, throw away trash, then line up). 📚don’t reinvent the wheel! and other social media resources have plenty of pre-made social stories for a variety of topics!
