What is Melasma?

Melasma is a skin condition that causes dark patches and spots, usually on the face.

Common causes of a Melasma flare up can be:
〰️ Hormonal Changes
〰️ Friction or Skin Trauma
〰️ Sun Exposure
〰️ Heat
〰️ Over-Exfoliation and Inflammation
〰️ Certain Medications

Prevention is key for Melasma. A few simple ways to prevent a flare up are:
〰️ Sun Protection - A wide-brim hat or SPF 30 or higher
〰️ Keeping the skin cool and hydrated - Avoiding saunas and hot showers
〰️ Avoid abrasive scrubs and irritating products

Managing a Melasma flare up can be difficult. It’s important to find the right provider who understands your skin and the correct way to treat pigment. A few different ways we can help treat Melasma are:
