Have you ever been accused of "overreacting"?
How quickly do you blame yourself for emotional reactions that don’t seem to “match” the situation. Tears, anger, shutdown, panic—these responses aren’t overreactions; They’re old patterns surfacing from a nervous system that learned how to survive.
With EMDR, I help women trace those reactions back to where they started—not to relive the past, but to reprocess it. When the nervous system no longer feels threatened by old experiences, reactions soften, self‑trust grows, and emotions feel more manageable instead of confusing or shame‑filled.
You’re not dramatic. You’re not failing. Your nervous system is responding to what it learned long ago—and it can learn something new.

Do you say, “I don’t feel much anymore.”
Emotional numbness isn’t apathy—it’s a nervous system that learned shutting down was safer than staying overwhelmed.
Through EMDR, I help women gently reconnect with emotions at a pace their system can handle. We’re not forcing feelings or digging things up too fast. We’re creating safety so the body no longer has to protect itself by going offline.
As regulation returns, so does clarity, connection, and a fuller emotional range.
Numbness isn’t the absence of feeling—it’s a sign your nervous system has been working very hard for a very long time.

I see so many women struggle with boundaries—not because they don’t know what they want, but because their nervous system learned long ago that saying NO, wasn’t safe.
Over time, that turns into people‑pleasing, resentment, and emotional exhaustion.
With EMDR, I help women reprocess the experiences that taught their body to override its own needs. When those patterns shift at a nervous‑system level, boundaries stop feeling threatening or selfish. They start to feel natural, calm, and self‑respecting.
Healthy boundaries aren’t about being harsher—they’re about feeling safe enough to honor yourself.

When I talk about burnout, I’m not just talking about being tired.
Burnout happens when your nervous system has been under chronic stress for so long that it stops feeling safe to slow down. It can show up as emotionally overwhelm, irritability, numbness, anxiety, brain fog, or the feeling that even small tasks are too much.
What makes burnout so overwhelming is that rest alone often doesn’t fix it. Your body is still operating in survival mode, holding onto everything it’s been responsible for.
With EMDR, I help clients reprocess the stress, pressure, and emotional load their nervous system never had a chance to fully release.
Instead of learning how to push through, EMDR helps the brain and body finally stand down. As the nervous system regulates, many people feel calmer, clearer, and more capable—without forcing productivity or self‑discipline. Burnout isn’t weakness. It’s a signal that your nervous system needs support, not criticism.

Autism Acceptance Month is also a time to talk about the emotional impact on women—especially mothers and caregivers. Supporting a child with autism often involves chronic stress, ongoing advocacy, and repeated moments where the nervous system stays on high alert. Over time, this can lead to anxiety, burnout, and deep feelings of guilt or self‑blame.
EMDR therapy helps by addressing how the brain and nervous system store these experiences. Rather than just talking through stress,EMDR allows women to reprocess the emotional weight. Many women report feeling more regulated, less reactive, and more compassionate toward themselves.
Supporting a child with autism takes a village.
~EMDR therapy can be a helpful part of your village.~

April is Autism Awareness Month, and I want to speak directly to moms raising children with autism—especially the ones carrying quiet guilt.
I hear it so often in my office: “What did I do wrong?” or “Why does this feel so hard for me?”
Let me say this clearly: your child’s needs are not your fault, and your exhaustion is not a failure.
Parenting a child with autism can stretch your nervous system in ways few people truly understand. The chronic stress, constant advocacy, grief for how you thought parenting would look, and the pressure to “stay strong” can all settle deep in the body. Over time, that stress can turn into guilt, self‑blame, and emotional overwhelm.
This is where EMDR can help.
EMDR doesn’t try to convince you to “think differently” or be more positive. Instead, it helps your brain and nervous system reprocess the emotional weight you’ve been carrying—so those feelings of guilt and failure no longer feel so true or so heavy. Many moms begin to feel more grounded, more compassionate toward themselves, and more able to cope without constantly questioning their worth.
If you’re a mom navigating this journey, I want you to know:
You are not broken.
You are not failing.
And you deserve support too.
