It's cold and flu season which means everyone should be washing their hands often to prevent the spread of illness.
Follow these five steps every time you wash your hands.
1. Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.
2. Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
3. Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.
4. Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
5.Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.

You've gone in for your annual check-up and you're feeling fine. So why is your doctor ordering additional tests?

Routine screenings help catch issues when they're more treatable and before they become serious problems. From cholesterol checks to mammograms and colonoscopies, early detection can save lives, and at the very least, gives you peace at mind.

SIU Center for Family Medicine in Jacksonville

The SIU Center for Family Medicine in Jacksonville, Illinois, was established in 2016 through the collaborative efforts of Passavant Area Hospital, the Morgan County Department of Public Health, and SIU School of Medicine. It is a family medicine practice providing comprehensive primary care services to infants, children, adults and the elderly. In addition it is housed in the Morgan County Department of Public Health facility so patients can also take advantage of the health department’s services such as their Immunization, Family Planning and Women, Infants and Children Programs. The health center accepts patients with or without insurance and we welcome our veterans.
