Have you ever wondered why en caul births are labeled as “rare” by the scientific community? It’s no surprise when you consider how many midwives and OB-GYNs are quick to rupture membranes. En caul births could be more common if we simply allowed nature to take its course.

And what about the fear surrounding nuchal cords? Despite common misconceptions, nuchal cords are often harmless. Many babies are born safely with the cord wrapped around their necks, a natural occurrence that doesn’t usually require intervention. I dare to say it might even offer protection to the cord during the birthing process since the cord could be less likely to get compressed?

It’s time to challenge the narrative, trust in the body’s wisdom. Let’s explore how we can support more natural birthing practices.

If you are feeling just as exhausted as I have been this month, know that sometimes it is okay to follow your bodies lead, but sometimes you also need to get outside for some fresh air.

And that’s what I did today. Instead of laying down on the couch while my kids play at their friends, I got in my garden bed and started weeding. And our garden friends decided to join me ❤️ 🦎 🦗

We’ve made the choice not to throw our kids birthday parties, and here’s why: We believe that grand celebrations can set our children up for disappointment and a sense of entitlement and jealousy. Instead of focusing on extravagant events, we focus on creating simple, meaningful experiences that foster true joy and connection.

You don’t need to spend a lot of money to make lasting memories. A family picnic, a day at the park, or a special homemade cake can be just as memorable and far more impactful. Quality time, heartfelt gestures, and the presence of loved ones are what our kids will remember and cherish the most.

Moms, let’s teach our children the true value of joy, connection, and the beauty of life’s simple pleasures.

It’s a shame that women seeking Doulas to support their desires of an undisputed and physiological birth don’t actually know how best to support them.

And it’s primary due to serving within the medical system and the lack of development of their own ability to leave birth alone.

Being able to sit in the presence of a woman giving birth without even so much as saying one word to her, is a rare skill.
