Unexpected accidents happen—be prepared. Ensure children and non-swimmers wear U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets when around the water.

DYK: All children age 12 and under must wear a USCG approved lifejacket when on a moving watercraft. Learn more about life jacket safety at https://safeboatingcampaign.com. 🌊

Be sure to know the current beach, ocean, and beach conditions before heading out to the beach.

Once you are at the beach, read the beach safety signs at the entrance to the beach, look for beach warning flags, often posted on or near a lifeguard's stand. 🌊

SWIM NEAR A LIFEGUARD!

While you should ALWAYS be responsible for you and your children’s own safety, lifeguards are trained to recognize hazardous conditions, advise swimmers how to stay safe, respond to emergencies, and provide medical care for those in need.

Lifeguards work to prevent drowning and injury through constant vigilance and interaction with the swimming public. When you arrive at the beach, check with lifeguards for designated swim areas and important safety advice. 🌊
