DCMS Executive Director Fraser Cobbe and staff member Joe Daraskevich take a look back at the first half of the 2026 Legislative Session in Tallahassee. Fraser dives in with a breakdown of why this session has been more about process than progress so far.

It's hard to say whether that's good or bad for organized medicine, since physicians are in favor of some of the bills stuck in the logjam and opposed to some of the other bills:

Last week, DCMS members gathered for a memorable DCMS Mixer set in a truly one-of-a-kind Jacksonville landmark: an event venue that once served as a casket factory. Just across the parking lot sits the original St. Luke’s Hospital, a building that predates the Great Jacksonville Fire of 1901 and now houses the Jacksonville History Center.

During the evening, DCMS officially presented its treasured historical artifacts to the History Center, ensuring they will be preserved and displayed for future generations. Guests had the rare opportunity to view these artifacts up close in a touching tribute to the physicians and healthcare professionals who shaped medicine in Florida.

Fraser breaks down which priorities in the House and Senate will impact the medical community and why many of the hot topics will sound very familiar to doctors:

A lot happened in the first week of the 2026 legislative session, which started earlier than the previous year because it is an election year in Florida. The...
