We have one more thing to be thankful for: Today we learned that we have earned a place on the list of US News & World Report's 2026 Best Nursing Homes!

The U.S. News Best Nursing Homes ratings are based on the most detailed analysis of the country’s skilled nursing facilities using quality measures and data from the federal government’s Care Compare program. These ratings recognize the two very different types of care provided by skilled nursing facilities:
-Short-Term Rehabilitation for patients following a hospitalization for surgery, heart attack, stroke, injury or similar condition.
-Long-Term Care for patients who are no longer able to live independently and need help with daily activities.

Next week! We are pleased to host the Jewish Genealogy Society of Northeast Florida at River Garden. Prior to the program, if you would like, the participants meet for a casual dinner from the River Garden kosher deli. Hot meals, soup or sandwiches available. The cost is just $5-7.00, cash.

What a nice Veterans Day at River Garden! To all veterans, thank you for your service, your sacrifice and your unwavering commitment to our nation. We honor you today and every day.

We began with wonderful breakfasts for residents and members. Special thanks to our Dining Services teams!

Our annual tribute program was truly special, awarding eight Quilts of Valor. In addition to our quilters and Life Enrichment team, we’d like to share a shout-out to Joe Maltese from American Legion Post 372 for speaking today! As we enter November, let’s acknowledge the challenges, rally the community and honor the heroes. Here's what we're talking about:

There are MANY family caregivers who quietly devote their time, energy and love to supporting a parent, partner, friend or relative. Many do this job while juggling jobs, kids and their own lives. We are glad to be an affordable support, offering a safe and secure space with experienced staff.

It’s also Long‑Term Care Awareness Month. Many people will need long-term care as they age — planning, awareness and support structures are all vital. Start conversations about care wishes and plans. Recognize the value of dignity and connection River Garden can offer with its excellent care. Show your support by giving, joining our Auxiliary or contributing volunteer hours with River Garden. The Jacksonville Walk to End Alzheimer’s is happening soon – Sunday, November 9. Right here in Jacksonville, the community comes together for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Sunday, Nov. 9 at UNF. Registration begins at 1:00PM, ceremony at 2:00PM, and the Walk starts immediately thereafter. You can support the River Garden Team in-person or with a donation. This walk raises funds and awareness for care, support and research. Wear purple!

On November 11, we pause to honor our veterans — the men and women who have served with courage. Many veterans and their families also experience the challenges of long-term care and caregiving, whether it’s navigating health needs, memory loss or recovery from service-related injuries. Veterans remind us of service in all forms, and consider joining for our annual Veteran’s Day Program at River Garden on November 11 @ 10:30AM.

When you look at it, these observances aren’t isolated — they weave together. Let’s make November a month of connection and gratitude. Let's be driven by our values and mission.
