It’s been a week since the fireworks & the glitter & the fresh, new planners, but it’s never too late to begin again.

Here’s your invitation to do the hard thing, to say no to the distraction & yes to the challenge, & to give yourself the grace to start again when you fall.

I, for one, am still processing the old & praying for vision for the new. I don’t have any grand resolutions, but I do want to keep moving forward in faithfulness. And I am ever more thankful that His mercies are new every morning.

May your 2023 be marked by grace upon grace, again & again.

Mele Kamikimaka from Hawaii!

No matter if your house looks like a winter wonderland or a maze of moving boxes with no ornaments on the tree (🙋🏼‍♀️), I hope you are comforted by the amazing truth that Christmas has always been about God coming to us when we had nothing to offer Him. He came & He comes to us in our mess, in the midst of the crazy, in the middle of our worst nightmares & best days.

And how lovely & mysterious it is that He came as a tiny baby, a newborn who experienced the wild journey of birth, woke in the middle of the night when he was hungry, & longed to be held by His humble, but willing mama. Maybe He even pooped in the washtub like my baby just did 😳

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).”
Matthew 1:23, ESV

Merry Christmas from the Nourishing Mama Collaborative!

Dear mama missing your baby,

I am so sorry you are walking this road. I am so sorry you aren’t holding your baby today.

And just in case you needed to hear it, you have permission to grieve & remember the baby you lost.

There are a million ways to remember; here are just a few to get you started whenever you are ready.

I remember your baby with you 💛

Love,

Another mama missing her baby

It’s been quiet around here for a while because my family & I have been preparing for a major transition...

we’re moving to Hawaii! 🏝

We are so excited for the adventure ahead, but there is a lot to do & in the midst of it all, my baby is growing up & I am realizing how it is more important than ever for me to be present. There is a lot of goodness in this space, but there is also goodness in silence & quiet & white space. And so, I’m stepping away from social media to refocus on what matters most as we prepare for our big move. 🏄🏼‍♀️

Enjoy your September, friends! I’ll be soaking up our last Florida Fall & preparing for all that lies ahead, for my family & the Nourishing Mama Collaborative.

See you in October!

Today I’m celebrating YOU mama!

This week brings a lot of complex emotions for many people. Whether you never planned to breastfeed but felt pressured or shamed by the hospital staff or hoped to breastfeed as long as possible but had to shift plans for the health & well-being of your family, I hope you know today that you are the absolute best mama for your baby, regardless of the details of your baby feeding journey. In the middle of the night when your baby cries yet again, it is you who gets up to nourish them. When the nurse has left the room & the lactation consultant has gone home, there you are, loving that baby with everything you have. And so today, I celebrate YOU, for pressing on against all odds. Cheering you on! 📣

To all the doulas working tirelessly to support families in our community: thank you for all you do.

You are an a amazing piece of the for mamas as they nourish their babies. You walk with them through the ups & downs of pregnancy, the agony & ecstasy of labor, & those tender early moments as mama meets baby face-to-face for the first time. As a former L&D nurse, I’m indebted to you for standing by your mama through the whole story & continuing to walk with her through the hills & valleys of postpartum. You may not get a lot of glory, but you are an invaluable member of the team & can make all the difference in the beginning of a breastfeeding journey. Happy World Breastfeeding Week! You are irreplaceable!

Breastfeeding takes a village.

I wouldn’t be here today, nearly 6 months into breastfeeding my baby, without the support of countless people, from the hospital lactation consultant who helped me correct her latch on day two, to the friends who brought meals in those early days, to the husband who still brings me water when I’m on the couch feeding once again.

I am humbled & so thankful.

So this week, for World Breastfeeding Week, I’m highlighting a few organizations & individuals who work hard to be the village, to nourish mamas as they nourish their babies. Follow along with me & perhaps you’ll find someone new to add to your village! It’s going to be a great week!
