Movement Driven Performance Physiotherapy

Movement Driven Performance Physiotherapy Movement Driven bridges the gap between rehab and sports performance. Movement Driven Performance Physiotherapy bridges the gap between rehab and performance.

We help athletes and active members of the Northeast Florida community keep moving and get back to and enhance their ability to participate in the sport or activity they love. We provide rehab to acutely injured athletes and progressing to progress them back to sport as well as those just looking to enhance and optimize performance under the guidance of a Doctor of Physical Therapy. We believe in building a strong foundation of quality movement patterns, neuromuscular motor control, joint mobility, strength, balance, and coordination. We do this by building programs that are specifically designed and tailored for the needs each client's sport or activity. Our clinicians work with youth athletes and active adults throughout Northeast Florida to keep moving and perform the activity and sport that they love.

Power in your golf swing does not come from forcing it.
It comes from how well your body moves.

When mobility is limited, your swing compensates. That is when consistency drops and aches start showing up in the back, hips, or shoulders.

Training your movement is just as important as training your swing mechanics. When your body moves efficiently, you create better control, more repeatable power, and fewer breakdowns round after round.

If your game feels stuck or your body feels beat up after playing, it may be time to look beyond the range and into how your body is actually moving.

Train your movement like you train your game.

January motivation is high and that’s a great thing. But motivation without preparation is where injuries sneak in.

Whether you’re jumping back into workouts, increasing mileage, chasing PRs, or starting a brand new training cycle, your body needs the right foundation first. Mobility, stability, recovery, and honest readiness checks all matter more than going all out on day one.

In our latest podcast episode, Dr. Greg breaks down why January injuries spike and how to train smarter so you can stay consistent all year long.

Train with intention. Build momentum the right way.

New year. New running goals. πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Whether you’re training for your first race or building consistency again, your warm up routine matters more than you think.

Before your next run, try this:
βœ… 5 minute brisk walk or easy jog
βœ… Leg swings and hip openers
βœ… Ankle circles and glute activation
βœ… Core engagement and posture reset

These small steps can go a long way in helping reduce common issues like shin splints, hip discomfort, and Achilles irritation as training volume increases.

If nagging pain is already creeping in, a running specific movement screen can help identify what’s holding you back so you can keep progressing with confidence.

Strong starts lead to strong finishes.

Stretching can feel great in the moment, but relief that fades fast is a sign something deeper is missing.

Flexibility is only one piece of the puzzle. True pain free movement comes from being able to control your range of motion and stay stable under real world demands.

In this episode, we break down why stretching alone often falls short and how mobility and stability play a much bigger role in how your body moves, performs, and stays resilient.

Most people never think about how they breathe until pain or performance issues show up.

Breathing mechanics influence how your ribs move, how your core stabilizes, and how your body distributes load during everyday movement and workouts. When breathing patterns are off, the body compensates and over time those compensations can turn into pain, stiffness, or injury.

In this episode, we break down how breathing, pressure, and stability work together and why improving this hidden system can unlock better movement and long term resilience.

πŸŽ„ 12 Days of Stretchmas wraps up today πŸŽ„

We’re closing out the series with Thoracic Spine Rotation with power band assist.

This stretch focuses on improving thoracic spine rotation, which is essential for healthy shoulders, efficient movement, and rotational activities like golf. Using a band helps guide the movement, improve control, and allow for smoother rotation without forcing range.

As we wrap up Stretchmas, we’d love to hear from you. Let us know which stretches you tried and which ones worked best for your body.

Thank you for following along and Merry Christmas from all of us at Movement Driven.

πŸŽ„ 12 Days of Stretchmas continues πŸŽ„

Day eleven features Seated Figure 4 with a strap.

This stretch targets the hips and glutes, helping improve mobility and reduce stiffness that can build up from sitting, training, or repetitive movement. Using a strap allows for better control and positioning, making the stretch more accessible and effective.

Try this stretch before workouts, after a long day, or anytime your hips feel tight.

Stay tuned as we share a new stretch every day and let us know which ones you try.

πŸŽ„ 12 Days of Stretchmas continues πŸŽ„

Day ten features Kneeling T-spine extension.

This stretch targets the thoracic spine, helping improve upper back mobility and posture. Better T-spine extension supports overhead movement, breathing mechanics, and rotational activities like golf, while also reducing strain on the neck and low back.

Try this stretch before workouts, before sports, or anytime you feel stiff through the upper back.

Stay tuned as we share a new stretch every day and let us know which ones you try.

πŸŽ„ 12 Days of Stretchmas continues πŸŽ„

Day nine features Banded rear delt and posterior capsule distraction.

This stretch helps improve shoulder mobility by targeting the rear deltoid and posterior shoulder capsule. It can be especially helpful for reducing stiffness from lifting, desk work, or repetitive upper body movements, while also supporting healthier shoulder mechanics.

Try this stretch before upper body workouts, before golf, or anytime your shoulders feel tight or restricted.

Stay tuned as we share a new stretch every day and let us know which ones you try.
