I never thought my passion in life would be breastfeeding but here we are.
First let me say that breastfeeding is hard, but so worth it. Some people say it's hard for a few weeks and then it gets easier..... for me, it was hard for about the first 5 months.
When my daughter was born she did not want to latch. We tried shortly after birth, before we left the birth center, later that night and finally sought the help of aCLC the next day. She just couldn't or wouldn't latch on.
We took her to a pediatric dentist when she was 2 days old and had her lip and tongue tie revised. While I'm sure it helped in the long run and it definitely made her mouth look more symmetrical. She still wouldn't latch on. Cue the frustration as a new mom.
I was finally able to get her to latch but only with the
help of a ni**le shield. It took us 5 months of using the shield before one day she finally started rejecting it. I took it off and she latched right on. Apparently she was finally ready. Lol. I know I was. It was such a pain making sure I had them with me at all times for when she got hungry. And finding one in the dark in the middle of the night!? Forgot about it.
Her latch wasn't perfect and still isn't. Which led me to doing my own research on how I could help her.
And this led to becoming a CLC.
I want to be able to help other moms using my own
experiences, trials and errors.
Breastfeeding or breast milk is the best choice for your infant. I want to make sure you and your baby get the help and support you need to have a long and
