September is National Sepsis Awareness Month 🩸 Sepsis happens when an infection you already have triggers a chain reaction throighout the body, can enter the blood.
Adults 65 and older account for nearly 60% of sepsis-related hospitalizations and face the highest risk of complications or death.
Often begins in the community without adequate support due to gaps in care such as missed medications, poor nutrition, caregiver burnout.
To recognize sepsis early, remember TIME:
T- temperature 🤒 too high or too low
I- infection
M- mental decline (confused, drowsy)
E- extremely ill (severe pain, feeling worse than before)
If these symptoms and signs are present , please go to the ER.
