National Assisted Living Week is a special time of year meant to honor the wonderful staff who help us care for our Ortega family. This year there was no shortage of shenanigans!

We hosted a lavish brunch featuring our very own Culinary Specialist, Hunter, cooking eggs made to order (special thanks, as well, to Bria and Fred from Community Hospice & Palliative Care for helping with those goodies).

With help from Lucie over at Mobile Medical we all got together to tie dye custom staff shirts (purple, of course, for Alzheimer's Awareness).

And finally we savored some refreshing popsicles with our residents, perfect during the last of this lingering summer heat (credit to Troy and Sharonda from Apex Home Healthcare and Salim from Nona Scientific).

Every day, this team goes above and beyond to make this facility feel like home. Chances are, if you're reading this now, you're thinking of some staff member that you're grateful for. Feel free to let them know in the comments below!

Meet Marilyn, one of the many talented residents here at Ortega Gardens. Even after years spent teaching little ones how to play, she still loves to "tickle the ivories" just for us here at home. 🏈 We "kicked off" football season with our very own NFL Happy Hour!

Guests enjoyed themed football snacks as we put both their bodies AND their minds through a workout! With rigorous exercise games and tricky football trivia, we think every one of them are MVP's 🏆

We were so HOPPY to see the return of our furry friends, the bunnies from Sheehan Homestead, last week! 🐰 These same bunnies visited us when they were days old earlier this year, it's amazing how much they've grown (and how adorable they've remained)!

Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave heroes who selflessly served during the tragedy of 9/11, as well as the individuals and families who endured unimaginable loss and suffering. At Sinceri Senior Living, we extend our deepest gratitude to all who showed incredible courage, and our hearts remain with all those affected by that day.
As we reflect on this solemn occasion, we reaffirm our commitment to compassion, unity, and support for one another, now and always.

Follow our lead and make this fun summer refreshment: pineapple basil lemonade! Creativity flows from strange places, and we found this drink recipe while looking for things to do with the heaps of fresh basil we grow in the garden. So glad we did: it was a crowd pleaser!

For Elvis week, some of his most loyal fans gathered at Ortega Gardens for a very special concert. We even helped him feel welcome by serving his favorite: grilled peanut butter and banana sandwiches! There was so much toe tapping that our "blue suede shoes" were all worn out.

A heartfelt thanks to the Community Ladies of Trinity Baptist Church for coming to give us a hymnal concert earlier this month. Your beautiful guitar and vocals lifted our spirits and warmed our hearts, and we cannot wait to see you again 🎵

A dog-gone good time was had last week at our annual Dog Parade! 🐕🐕🐕

Some wonderful folks from the Alliance of Therapy Dogs came to visit with their finest fluffy friends in tow. Residents always love seeing the pups, but getting to have so many together at one time truly is a spectacle. We can't think of a better way to say goodbye to "the dog days of summer"!

Straight from our ovens with love, these homemade dog treats were the pick of the litter! 🦴

With just a little bit of flour, a few scoops of peanut butter, and a couple fun cookie cutters to cut them into shapes befitting a treat, we were able to make some PAW-sitively delicious dog biscuits. With these goodie bags, we were finally able to pay back our therapy dogs for all they do to keep the smiles on our faces. Shoutout to our friend Lucie from Mobile Medical for donating her time and supplies for this project!

We go nuts for coconuts! 🥥

We had our annual luau last week and it was a really "LEI'd back" time for all who attended. We enjoyed some adorable beach bear jello cups, tropical fruit punch, and plenty of funky Hawaiian costumes as we sang along to island tunes. Thanks so much to Apex, Nona Scientific and Community Hospice & Palliative Care for donating party supplies and helping us serve refreshments, and of course to everyone who came by to "rock-a-hula" with us!
