Ice, Ice, Baby 🍨🍪

Last week we cooled off with our very own DIY ice cream cookie sandwiches! Lucie with Mobile Medical provided an assortment of ice cream flavors and sweet toppings, while our Culinary Director, Hunter, baked fresh cookies. YUM! So thankful each day for the sweet treats we get to enjoy and the sweet friends we get to enjoy them with.

Thank you so much to 3Natives for serving up these delicious smoothies and açai bowls! They were as yummy as they were nutritious, helping with our heart and brain health. With good friends and good food, a long and happy life feels gauranteed ❤️

Who let the dogs out? 🐾

Therapy dogs are a regular part of our programming, and we're always so glad that they're able to "paws" their busy schedule and pay us a visit! Whether they're big and fluffy or small and sassy, every pat, kiss, and snuggle truly is a gift.

We always get compliments on our beautiful courtyard, but you may not realize all the work we put in to keep it so lush and vibrant! Fortunately, there's a dedicated group of folks who go out with us each and every morning to tend to the flowers. And with all this extra rain lately we've been getting some help with the watering!

Today's trip involved trading in our shoes for some funky bowling sneakers and spending a couple hours trying to knock down pins... You could say it was mostly successful, but at least we had fun trying!

There were fireworks yesterday as we celebrated our independence here at Ortega Gardens. Residents enjoyed patriotic punch and star-spangled brownies while we sang along to many classic liberty anthems, and of course we took some red, white, and blue closeups!

Babies on Board! 👶⚠️

Two of the ladies of our Activities Department are toddler moms, and every so often we like to share the snuggles and playtime with the whole building. Seeing these tiny tots often reminds them of times when their own little ones were smaller, and it's so lovely to see that nurturing side come out.

Continuing our themed activities for National Dairy Month, we paraded around our cardboard assistant, Bessie, and gave the residents a bit of the farm experience! Some were a little "sheepish", while others really "milked" the opportunity.

June is National Great Outdoors Month and we celebrated with a number of nature-themed activities. We got to learn all about animal tracks, went on a few outdoor scavenger hunts, did some pool noodle "fishing", and finally sang campfire songs with some warm s'mores dip.
