We held our semesterly professional development forum last week!

During the forum, our clinical director Melissa Miller, DSW, LCSW presented on Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). ART is a brief treatment approach that utilizes eye movements and guided imagery to help replace and alleviate the power of painful memories. We offer ART at the Counseling Center. The Understanding Self and Others (USO) groups are insight-oriented groups that provide a safe environment for exploring personal growth through connections with others. This group is beneficial for those struggling with anxiety, depression, life transition issues and communication skills by facilitating a better understand of self. Students gain insight into themselves and their relationships, allowing for the opportunity to provide and receive honest feedback in a therapeutic setting. Members guide session focus. Group meets weekly.

Self-Exploration and Understanding Emotions: This group is aimed at exploring who we really are. We do this not just by talking about our lives, but by practicing feeling, understanding, and being curious about what our bodies and minds are telling us. This group is meant to combine traditional talk therapy with body-based and mindfulness practices to deepen emotional experience and understanding. On the way, we’ll learn techniques to regulate, accept, and be compassionate towards our emotions and ourselves. Group meets weekly on Tuesdays from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm.
